Senior Data Engineer

About The job

As our Senior Data Engineer for our Startup Solutions team, you will help us centralize key data about our operations, and data at the intersection of healthcare and finance. To do this you will help configure and maintain a modern data stack of data integration services, a cloud data warehouse, a data transformation layer, and workflow orchestration.  You will need to think deeply about the details of our various data sources, be creative in how we assess and ensure data quality, and be critical in how we evaluate technologies that serve our use cases.

In this role, you will work closely with the Data Science and Analytics Engineering groups at Redesign Health. These groups are engaged in deriving insights from our data, and working with our stakeholders to ensure that those insights are actionable.

You will report to and work with the Director of Data Science. The position can be fully remote within the United States or based out of our New York City headquarters.

What you’ll do

• Establish data pipelines to external and internal data sources and work with both structured and unstructured data to efficiently extract and load into our data warehouse
• Design and implement data orchestration using tools like Airflow to manage scheduling and data flow across all the components of the data infrastructure
• Test and iterate quickly to establish an agile architecture that can scale as our demands increase and work with data warehouses/lakes to effectively store data that will be a valuable resource for analytics across the organization
• Capture metadata and preserve the fidelity of the source and data lineage from origin to staging and serving data environments and build data models that can be leveraged across our various use cases
• Effectively communicate the value of the new data to stakeholders within the data team and iterate with Analytics Engineers to package data in a way that can be easily consumed by BI tools, such as dashboards, and leverage data transformation tools to transform and craft derivatives that can generate information and cultivate insights

What you’ll need

• You have 4+ years of experience specifically with Data Engineering
• You have experience building dbt models to transform and connect disparate raw data sources
• You have experience with a data integration framework like Fivetran or Airbyte
• You have experience with a cloud data warehouse like snowflake, redshift, or big query
• You have experience with workflow orchestration tools such as airflow, prefect, or argo

What you will bring to the table

• You have 3+ years of experience programming in Python and SQL

Full-time base salary range of $170,000.00 - $210,000.00 plus a competitive equity & benefits package listed under the "Why work with us?" section.
