🚀 About the role

The mission of the Senior Data Engineer is to ensure the continuous accuracy and reliability of data across Baubap's systems. This includes managing and protecting data flows, applying advanced statistical techniques to analyze and interpret data, and providing cross-functional support to maintain seamless functionality of critical features. The engineer will lead initiatives to enhance data processing efficiency, ensure compliance with industry regulations, and protect Baubap’s most valuable asset—its data. By doing so, the engineer will contribute to better decision-making and uphold the integrity and security of our data infrastructure.

As a Senior Data Engineer, these are the challenges that you will help us for solving

• Guaranteeing Data Integrity:
  • Ensure that the data used in our models is accurate and reliable.
  • Manage immediate issues related to data integrity and proactively mitigate potential risks from data inconsistencies and anomalies.
• Advanced Data Analysis:
  • Apply advanced statistical techniques to analyze complex datasets, uncover patterns, and generate actionable insights.
  • Develop and maintain predictive models to support business forecasting and strategic planning.
• Maintaining Data Flows:
  • Monitor and manage critical data flows to prevent loss of visibility and accuracy.
  • Ensure continuous accuracy and reliability of data within Baubap's systems.
• Data Compatibility and Security:
  • Stay up-to-date with data management best practices and security protocols to ensure data integrity.
  • Implement necessary changes quickly to maintain the security of data.
• Cross-Functional Support:
  • Act as a consultant for other teams, ensuring that data required for key functionalities works smoothly and does not affect the models.
  • Provide cross-functional support to maintain the seamless functionality of critical features.
• Enhancing Development Processes:
  • Lead initiatives to enhance the efficiency of our data processing and analysis workflows.
  • Implement and refine data pipelines that are efficient and scalable.
• Ensuring Compliance:
  • Support Baubap’s regulatory and compliance efforts to ensure data handling meets all necessary standards.
  • Maintain compliance with industry regulations to support Baubap's mission.
• Optimizing Data Performance:
  • Monitor data performance and implement optimizations for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices and maintain high code quality.
• Fostering Innovation:
  • Explore and integrate new statistical methods and data processing technologies.
  • Foster a collaborative environment within the data engineering team to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

Day to Day

• Guarantee Data Integrity: Ensure that the data used in the models is not affected by Android updates or changes in APIs.
• Maintain Data Flows: Monitor and manage critical data flows to prevent loss of visibility and accuracy due to updates or changes in the application.
• Data Compatibility and Security: Stay up-to-date with Android updates and APIs to ensure the application remains compatible and secure, implementing necessary changes quickly.
• Cross-Functional Support: Act as a consultant for other teams, ensuring that data required for key functionalities (such as biometrics) works smoothly and does not affect the models.
• Apply advanced statistical techniques to analyze complex datasets and uncover patterns.
• Develop and maintain predictive models to support business forecasting and strategic planning.
• Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices and maintain high code quality.
• Collaborate with QA specialists to identify and resolve data issues.
• Manage and optimize data pipelines for streamlined processing and analysis.
• Monitor data performance and implement optimizations for efficiency and accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and data security standards.
• Implement and review security measures to protect data integrity and privacy.
• Work closely with data engineers and product designers.
• Participate in regular team meetings, stand-ups, and planning sessions.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation of data processes and models.
• Identify areas for automation and implement tools and scripts to improve efficiency.
• Analyze user feedback and usage data to prioritize development tasks.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest data engineering and statistical analysis trends.
• Experiment with new tools, libraries, and frameworks to enhance data capabilities.

Requirements

• Strong portfolio of released applications on the Google Play Store.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in Python and statistical analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of statistical methods and their application in data analysis.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing solutions like Redshift, BigQuery, or Snowflake.
  • Knowledge of SQL and experience with relational databases.
  • Basic knowledge of PHP to understand and integrate with existing systems.
• Performance and Security:
  • Experience with data pipeline optimization and performance tuning.
  • Knowledge of data security best practices and implementation.
• Compliance and Regulations:
  • Understanding of industry regulations and compliance standards for mobile applications.
• Soft Skills:
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proactive and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Other Requirements:
  • Fluent in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
