About this job

The bulk of the data engineer's work would be in building, managing and optimizing data pipelines and then moving these data pipelines effectively into production for key data and analytics consumers (like business/data analysts, data scientists or any persona that needs curated data for operational and analytical data use cases.

Data engineers also need to guarantee compliance with data governance and data security requirements while creating, improving and operationalizing these integrated and reusable data pipelines. This would enable faster data access, integrated data reuse and vastly improved time-to-solution for CarMax's operational and analytical initiatives

Summary of Duties:

• Partner with Product Managers and Sr. Analysts to understand business and functional requirements.
• Design, develop, and support data integrations in the cloud, both batch and streaming.
• Design, develop, and support data modeling and management through our MDM Tool.
• Support and troubleshoot legacy batch ETL jobs, using a variety of technologies including Informatica, SQL, and scripting. Analyze and resolve missing, incorrect, or inconsistent data issues due to ETL.
• Assist the team in performing analysis required for UAT testing and validation.
• Assist the team with analysis required for post implementation testing, validation and monitoring.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field of study AND Five (5) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation in which the required experience was gained. Applicants must also have demonstrated experience with the following: Designing, building, and supporting batch and streaming processes in Azure; Developing data integrations and ingestion jobs; Using Informatica, or other batch ETL tools, both in development and troubleshooting operations; Hands on development of complex SQL programs to enable analysis of application data; and Agile methodologies.
