SUMMARY
The Senior Data Engineer works closely with a multidisciplinary Agile team to build high quality data pipelines driving analytic solutions. These solutions will generate insights from the organization's connected data, enabling the organization to advance the data-driven decision-making capabilities of the organization's enterprise. The Senior Data Engineer uses their advanced knowledge of data engineering concepts and tools to help the ministry achieve its goals.

Education
Bachelors in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Engineering (required)
Masters, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Engineering (preferred)
Doctorate, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Engineering (preferred)
Work Experience
5 years' experience in a data engineering or architecture role (required)
5+ years' experience in a data engineering or architecture role (preferred)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Design, develop, optimize, and maintain data architecture and pipelines that adhere to ETL principles and business goals
- Solve complex data problems to deliver insights that helps our ministry achieve our goals
- Foster a culture of sharing, re-use, design for scale stability, and operational efficiency of data and analytical solutions
- Learn about machine learning, data science, computer vision, artificial intelligence, statistics, and/or applied mathematics
- Work with translators to identify business problems that can be addressed by analytics
- Work on data management platforms (e.g., Azure, Hadoop, Bluemix )
- Perform data collection, structuring and cleaning for an end-to-end analytics use case
- Create and deploy robust data pipelines
- Understand intricacies of IT architecture, security & governance and has ability to maintain quality data
- Design end to end analytical workflows, including overall architecture, capabilities, platforms, tools and governing processes
