As a Software Engineer in Data Infrastructure at Venmo, you will empower teams to leverage their data with confidence. You are excited by the prospect of optimizing or even re-designing our company's data architecture to support our next generation of products and data initiatives.

What You'll Do

• Design, implement and maintain our online/off-line/near-line data infrastructure service, such as Message queue (Kafka), Cache, Data lake and so on
• Design, implement and maintain our data driven applications, such as user search, feeds, social graph and so on.

• Scale our infrastructure to support growth while maintaining performance and reliability
• Continuously improving data operations: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
• Interface with the product and other functional teams and their leadership

Job Requirements

• Bachelors and/or Masters in Computer Science OR related field of study
• 5+ years of experience in software development or a related field
• 5+ years proficiency with the big data infrastructure: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Kafka Client, Kinesis Client, AWS CLI, AWS Boto3, etc
• 3+ years AWS Tools MSK, SQS, Kinesis, Kubernetes, EKS, IAM, CloudWatch, Lambda, DynamoDB, EMR/ Zookeeper, MemoryDB/ Redis, KMS, Certificate Manager, etc.
• Proficiency with one object-oriented/object function scripting language: Python, Java, C++, Scala, etc
• DSL languages like Terraform, Ruby DSL for CloudFormation, CDK, Docker, Helm, GitHub Actions, Puppet, etc.
• 2+years experience with 24x7 oncall, incident management, writing root cause analysis with action items, etc.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to understand and explain technical issues to a non-technical audience
