Senior Data Infrastructure Engineer

The Role

TripleLift is seeking experienced Cloud Infrastructure Engineers with Data Engineering background or knowledge to join our team full time. We are a fast-growing startup in the advertising technology sector, trying to tackle some of the most challenging problems facing the industry. As a data infrastructure engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing data infrastructure that provides leverage to the data team to do their best possible work. This includes building infrastructure required for the data pipeline and data platforms. Working closely with the data team, you will be improving deployment and release processes, as well as constantly searching for ways to improve our data infrastructure.

Location: This team is based out of New York but is 100% remote.

The cloud engineering team uses the following technologies at TripleLift:

• Data Tools: Databricks, Spark, AWS EMR, Druid, Snowflake, Parquet, Airflow, Kafka, Kafka Connect
• Tools: Terraform, Terragrunt, Docker, Nomad, GitHub Actions, Prometheus, Grafana, Vault, Consul, Puppet
• Databases: AeroSpike, RDS MySQL/Postgres, MongoDB
• Languages: TypeScript, Java, Python, Node.js and more
• Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud (GCP) to keep everything humming

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the rest of the data teams to come up with best practices and solutions to build a scalable data engineering infrastructure.
• Develop a unified system for monitor, logging and error handling focused towards data pipeline and infrastructure;
• Build tools that make every engineer more productive and enables self-service;
• Improve our deployment processes;
• Work with each team to optimize their application performance;
• Search for industry best practices and use them to drive our team forward.

• Work with teams to optimize and reduce cloud costs;

Desired Skills and Attributes

• Significant experience working as a infrastructure engineer or a software engineer with a strong knowledge of Data Engineering tools and products 
• Practical understanding of algorithms, data structures, and design patterns; 
• Can design, architect and build infrastructure for data pipelines;
• Ability to communicate with data engineering and data science teams and understand their data and reporting requirements
• Ability to code proficiently in at least one programming language;
• Loves programming and automating repetitive work;
• Understanding of what it takes to build self-healing systems in the cloud;
• Understands best practices of application, data, and  cloud security;
• Understands best practices around building scalable, reliable, and highly available secure infrastructure;
• Understanding of container technologies, like Docker and what it takes to containerize applications. 
• Comfortable taking ownership of projects and showcasing key accomplishments;
• Strives for continued learning opportunities to build upon craft;
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
• Ability to work quickly and independently with minimal oversight;
• Ability to work under pressure and multitask in a fast-paced start-up environment;
• Desire to accept feedback and constructive criticism;

• Proven academic and/or professional achievement.

Education Requirement

A Bachelor’s degree in a technical subject is preferred, although candidates with relevant experience who hold other degrees will be considered.

Experience Requirement

At least five years of working experience in a professional, collaborative environment.
