Senior Data Platform Engineer

Employer Direct Healthcare is looking for a talented Senior Data Platform Engineer to join our team. This Engineer will maintain current data platforms, troubleshoot issues, design new data platforms, ensure data platform availability, ensure data integrity, implement data platform changes, manage security, and provide on-call support. An ideal candidate brings curiosity, passion for data, and a deep understanding of the technologies behind data pipelines, and analytics.

Current data platforms include SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Azure DevOps, and PowerBI. Teams supported include Application Engineering, Data Engineering, Decision Science, and Business Analytics.

You will:

• Have extensive experience with the setup, deployment and hardening of data-intensive environments using cloud-based database and storage technologies.
• Have experience in creating robust and automated pipelines to ingest and process structured and unstructured data sources into analytical platforms using batch and streaming mechanisms leveraging cloud native toolset.
• The ability to drive security paradigms for databases and related infrastructure resources.
• Leverage the right tools for the right job to deliver testable, maintainable, and modern data solutions.
• Be comfortable with researching data questions, identify root causes, and interact closely with business users and technical resources on various data related decisions.
• Understand how to profile code, queries, programming objects and optimize performance.
• Be able to advise on performance optimizations and best practices for scalable data models, pipelines, and queries.
• Provides and designs tools to assist in the management of the data platforms.
• Work to provide a working model of our transaction processing environment for capacity assessment and planning.
• Develop a methodology for the ongoing assessment of data platform performance and the identification of problem areas.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in IT preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
• 7+ years' experience with data platforms
• 2+ years' experience managing SQL databases in Microsoft Azure cloud.
• Strong knowledge in writing, troubleshooting, and tuning T-SQL code, and database objects.
• Ability to secure data platforms following established industry best practices and familiarity with responding to SOC (or similar) audit requests.
• Demonstrated experience selecting and implementing data hosting platforms based upon cost, high availability (HA), and disaster recovery (DR) considerations.
• Experience selecting and baselining differing storage technologies in the service of data platforms, following established best practices.
• Demonstrate strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
• Experience with large-scale, complex data environments.
• Data platform certification preferred
• 3+ years' experience with CMD shell or PowerShell preferred.
• Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to self-motivate and meet deadlines.
