What You Will Do:
The Data Scientist will provide full-stack development consulting to a Department of the Army client as part of the Predictive Logistics team.
The Team will be responsible for harnessing, cleaning, applying advanced analytic methodologies (ML, AI) and analyzing large amounts of related data and providing an intuitive and user-friendly set of data visualization dashboards and applications based on this data, to provide accelerated decision making capability across the echelons of the Army.
The Team you lead will conduct data pipeline development, data source acquisition, engineering of the data sources and tables, predictive modeling in a data science environment and developing visualizations to present both statistical and predictive analytics through a common user interface. You will constantly engage with the internal team and the client to develop feedback to quickly transform that knowledge into formal requirements.
The candidate will be the team lead for the overall data environment, consulting with clients in the development of the overall pipeline, data engineering and the data science model.
Team tasks will include importing data into the data repository from a variety of sources, identifying new sources for integration, coordinating the overall data integration/engineering effort, incorporating advanced analytic model outputs and evolving the visualizations for use for a variety of clients across various echelons. The client seeks a thought leading consulting team that is software agnostic and possesses a strategic outlook that produces relevant, timely, and actionable technical results that enable proactive action for logistics and operations across the echelons of the Army.
Duties will include:
- Coordinating and leading internal team actions to meet project and client objectives.
- Consulting with the client to determine analytics required, technical solutions and methods to ensure a high confidence model for client decision making.
- Interfacing with Army Agencies and Team Subject Matter Experts to design, develop, validate and deploy capabilities that enable client objectives.
What You Will Need:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET federal security clearance; or higher
- Bachelor's degree
- FIVE (5) or more years' direct experience supporting data driven delivery
- Extensive knowledge of and hands-on experience with modern Data Science approaches
- Proven ability to work as part of a team to independently model business and functional requirements into complex reports, data visualizations and dashboards.
- Experience performing software or data science development
What Would Be Nice To Have:
- STRONG preference for candidate(s) to be currently located in Huntsville, Al region; or willing to relocate to Huntsville, Al.
- An ACTIVE and CURRENT SECRET federal security clearance
- Master's degree in a science, technology, math, engineering field preferred
- Experience implementing and automating software models created by data science teams (i.e. Spark, Scala, Hive, Python, R, SQL, etc.).
- Experience with common data science tools, such as R, Python, MATLAB; with a heavy emphasis on Python.
- Familiarity with Army enterprise data systems supporting logistics, operations, readiness, procurement, contracting and financial management.
- Demonstrates experience interacting with end-users to understand and document business and functional requirements for complex projects, as well as collaborating with technical teams across the full software development life cycle.
- Demonstrates considerable proven knowledge of analytical, organizational, planning and project management specific to software development lifecycle processes.
- Experience designing and implementing technology for new or existing business applications.
- Experience developing systems requirements, designing, and prototyping, testing, training, defining support procedures, and implementing practical business solutions under weekly and monthly deadlines.
- Problem solving capabilities demonstrated in a team context to debug, troubleshoot complex software orchestrations, and/or identify solution options.
- Experience scoping and estimating individual tasks, as well as performing on multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Ability to collect, organize, manage, and process client's sources of information and enhance data collection procedures.
- Understanding of the processing, cleaning, and verification of data used for analysis and ad-hoc analysis.
- Ability to perform verification, validation, and fault detection of data models.
