About the role.

The Data & Analytics group is a key function in the company as it aspires to help change the game for other functions in ways that help PURE get ahead of the competition. We focus on creating extraordinary impact and value by taking on big challenges but also obsessing over each small detail and being in a constant learning mode. We are looking for Senior Data Scientist with a strong background in a quantitative discipline who is skilled in the latest advances in the data science area.

What you'll do.
  • Discover patterns in data and create solutions/constructs/tools through advanced knowledge of data mining, machine learning, data analyses and statistics
  • Strive to understand the business, market, and insurance industry extremely well
  • Establish effective relationships and collaborate with other functions to be effective
  • Research, recommend and implement new and/or alternative statistical and other mathematical methodologies appropriate for the problem being addressed
  • Extensively document, keeping in mind knowledge management and information dissemination
  • Effectively communicate results in written, oral, and presentation formats
  • Work on enhancing knowledge and skills to maintain an edge in data science


What we're looking for.
  • A team player brimming with creative ideas with a talent for problem-solving
  • 2-6+ years of relevant hands-on experience solving tough problems.
  • The ability to query large databases to design and perform statistical analyses to generate business insights
  • Good knowledge of Python and SQL; proficiency in SAS an added bonus
  • Well-versed in numerical methodologies and concepts and their relevant applications
  • Ability to understand how to explore and leverage the latest advances in open-source libraries
  • Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and technologies, and adapt to the changes and demands in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • College degree, preferably Masters, in any of the following quantitative disciplines: Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics or Statistics
