What is This Position About?

As a Senior Data Scientist at our company, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing advanced predictive models. This position is pivotal in deepening our data insights and streamlining operational efficiencies within the retail sector. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to transform business challenges into actionable insights using cutting-edge analytics techniques.

This role offers the opportunity to work independently on challenging projects while collaborating with a diverse global team.

You may work 100% remotely if you are currently living in LATAM or you can always join us at the office in Montevideo, Uruguay!

Job Description

• Develop, validate, and deploy predictive models using Python and SQL, ensuring scalability and performance.
• Implement models into production environments, collaborating with engineering teams for seamless integration.
• Working on AWS for data processing and model deployment.
• Leverage advanced machine learning techniques, including XGBoost and Prophet models, to forecast trends and optimize business strategies.
• Contribute to the design and optimization of data pipelines to support ongoing analytics needs.
• Analyze large datasets to extract meaningful patterns and insights that drive strategic decisions.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in data science to continually enhance our analytical capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience in data science, with a proven track record of developing and deploying predictive models.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL is essential; experience with other programming languages and tools is a plus.
• Familiarity with cloud-based platforms like AWS and their applications in data processing and model deployment.
• Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms, particularly XGBoost and Prophet; experience with other algorithms is beneficial.
• Previous exposure to the retail industry is advantageous, with knowledge of typical models used in this sector.
• Ability to communicate complex ideas and analytical findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for using data-driven insights to address business challenges.
• Experience in deploying and maintaining models in production environments, including optimization and performance monitoring.

What about languages? 

• You will need excellent written and verbal English for clear and effective communication with the team. 

How much experience must I have? 

• We're looking for someone with 3+ years' of experience in similar roles.
