Understand business problems in pricing, underwriting, claims, operations, and other areas. With minimal direction, identify a viable approach these problems and perform analysis and modeling to solve them. Collaborates with peers and business partners to ensure that we build and implement viable solutions
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Understand business problems in pricing, underwriting, claims, operations and other areas, identify viable approaches to those problems, and perform analysis and modeling to solve them applying advanced statistical and machine learning methods and techniques.
  • Develop and provide subject matter expertise on the current and emerging predictive modeling techniques.
  • Extract meaningful information from large volumes of data across multiple datasets.
  • Plan, implement, manage and contribute to complex data science projects.
  • Use full suite of GCP, R and Python tools to build and deploy packages, query data, build models, schedule future model runs and share results through Looker.
  • Use model price elasticity, forecast demand, LOESS seasonal trend decomposition and time series forecasting to predict future activity within insurance policy lifecycle.
  • Use NLP text preprocessing, fuzzy matching, and record linkage techniques to match records in different data sources and formats.

Education & Experience
Master's degree in Data science, mathematics, economics or related quantitative field and 2 (two) years of experience in data science.
Must have work experience with each of the following:
  • Use full suite of GCP, R and Python tools to build and deploy packages, query data, build models, schedule future model runs and share results through Looker.
  • Use model price elasticity, forecast demand, LOESS seasonal trend decomposition and time series forecasting to predict future activity within insurance policy lifecycle.

Primary Location United States - Illinois - Chicago
Organization - Technology
Mon-Fri., 8:30am - 4:45pm, 37.5 hours/week, $121,820 to $140,000 per year, overtime exempt. This position qualifies for CNA's employee referral policy program.
