What you'll do...

As a Data Scientist at Walmart, the mammoth scale and volume of our global data is virtually limitless. You will create insights that influence how we make decisions that have impact at an unprecedented scale.
Walmart Global Tech CSIS (Core Services: Item and Supply Chain Technology) Data Science team is looking for a passionate data scientist to join world's largest retailer to shape the future of retail by working on various Mid-Mile and First-Mile related problems. You will have the chance to leverage advanced machine learning and optimization methods to tackle a wide range of real-world problems.
You'll make an impact by:

• Build production models on large-scale datasets to help Walmart first and middle mile transportation business use cases, such as load planning, routing, driver work assignment by utilizing machine learning and optimization techniques
• Build data pipeline from multiple sources and extract data insight with data exploration and visualization techniques
• Design, implement, productionize and deploy data science products with consideration of optimality and computation complexity
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including product, engineering, operations team to ensure that our data science product supports Walmart's business objectives
• Explore and latest trends of machine learning or optimization techniques to come up with solutions for complex data challenges

• You're an inquisitive, out-of-the box thinker who's continually on the lookout for opportunities to improve and innovate data science solutions
• You have consistently high standards, your passion for quality is inherent in everything that you do
• You have solid knowledge in advanced optimization algorithms including mixed integer programming models, network flows models, heuristics, meta-heuristics and etc.
• You have expert knowledge in developing flexible models based on Vehicle Routing, Scheduling and Graph Theory to solve for challenging combinatorial optimization problems.
• You are passionate about building scalable, reliable data driver products
• You have the ability to write production grade code in programming languages, such as C++ and Java, with understanding of algorithms and data structures
• You have ability to translate business needs into analytical frameworks
• You are familiarity of common deep learning models
• You are capable of conducting independent research to keep track of latest development and trend in the industry and academia
• You are familiarity of model assessment and validation process; apply the best practice techniques for model testing and parameter tuning

Must Haves

• Master or PhD in Statistics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering and Mathematics or other quantitative fields
• Strong knowledge of machine learning, or mathematical programming modeling and optimization
• Demonstrated coding and programming abilities
• Good communication skills
