Guru is looking for a Sr. Data Scientist to be a core part of our team. As a Sr. Data Scientist, you will be researching and prototyping machine learning and natural language processing models to augment existing product features and to enable entirely new capabilities in our product. You will collaborate with Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, Data Engineers, Software Engineers, Product Managers and other stakeholders to understand business needs, distill requirements, research the best solutions, prototype, implement, deploy and iterate on models, all with a laser focus on delivering value to our end users.

• 5+ years of professional experience with machine learning, 2+ years of experience with NLP and/or ML for search
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent training, fellowship, or relevant work experience
• Knowledge and understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and natural language processing techniques
• Hands-on experience in putting machine learning models into production to solve business problems
• Strong programming skills in Python
• Fluency in data manipulation using SQL, Pandas, or Spark
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
• Strong communication skills. You have a positive attitude and are empathetic.
• Self-motivated. You identify and solve problems with little or no guidance
• Self-awareness and a desire to improve
• You excel in a dynamic startup environment
• You work well with others and are a great team player

• Experience analyzing large data sets, using Apache Spark, Dask, Ray, or other parallel computing technologies.
• Experience with language models and transformers
• Experience with real-time recommender systems
• Experience with information retrieval systems, Elasticsearch/Solr
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, ideally AWS services including ECS, EMR, Lambda, API Gateway, Redshift, DynamoDB, Amazon SageMaker, SageMaker Studio, EMR Studio, dbt and Mode/Looker
• Experience with Deep learning models and their practical application at scale.
• Prior experience in a startup environment, specifically SaaS and B2B
• An advanced degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or related STEM field.
