Job Description

Overview of position

The Senior Data Scientist will work closely with a multidisciplinary agile team to build, improve and maintain high-quality AI or machine learning solutions for advanced analytics or AI products. These solutions power customer-facing AI products or generate insights from Scaled Agile's connected data corpus, enabling the organization to advance its data-driven decision-making capabilities and improve customer satisfaction with its products.

This role focuses on navigating the machine learning landscape, identifying suitable models for various applications, and optimizing their performance. A basic understanding of web app architecture and data engineering is also essential. We seek a data scientist adept in leveraging existing ML models or data science products. The ideal candidate should have a learning mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and enthusiasm for collaborating with a technical, cross-functional product team.

Qualifications

Technical skills

  • Master’s degree (preferred) or strong Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, Physics, or Mathematics or related technical disciplines
  • Experience: 3+ years’ experience in a statistical, machine learning, and/or data science role
  • Should have practical experience in machine learning, statistics, optimization or related fields; deeper experience in working with large data sets, simulation, optimization or distributed computing tools is a plus
  • Programming: Proficiency in python and relevant data science packages, e.g., pandas, numpy, scikit-learn. Ability to write production-ready code.
  • Hands on experience with real world data: data pre-processing, post-processing, metadata usage and generation
  • Ability to iterate on and improve model performance, including evaluation KPIs, test set selection, logging model results
  • Familiarity with large language models (LLMs) or GenAI applications, including concepts such as intent recognition, model guardrails, and semantic search

Soft skills

  • Passionate about agile software processes, GenAI, data-driven development, reliability, and experimentation
  • Experience working on a collaborative agile product team
  • Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills
  • Flexibility to changes in work direction as a project develops
  • Excellent communication, listening and influencing skills
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work at an abstract level to gain consensus
  • Clear and comprehensive documentation of data sources, models, processes, KPIs

Nice-to-have’s

  • Familiarity with popular LLMs such as OpenAI GPT, LLaMA, PaLM, etc.
  • Experience using LangChain for GenAI applications 
  • Familiarity with fine-tuning LLMs for specific tasks
  • Experience working on the cloud, e.g., AWS S3, SageMaker, etc.

Additional Information

Compensation: 

Scaled Agile is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The target salary range for this role is $140,000- $160,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, skills, and certifications.

Employees of Scaled Agile are also compensated with a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, optional insurance products including identity protection and pet insurance, 401K with a match, flexible paid time off, company-paid sabbatical after six years of service, bonus plan, and equity options.
