This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Data Scientist in India.
In this role, you will contribute to the development of advanced machine learning and data-driven solutions that power critical financial decisioning systems. You will work on designing and improving models that support risk assessment, fraud detection, collections optimization, and customer acquisition strategies. The position involves working with large-scale, alternative data sources to build predictive systems that expand financial access for underbanked populations. You will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including product, engineering, compliance, and model risk teams to ensure robust, scalable, and compliant solutions. This is a highly impactful role where your work directly influences credit decisioning, portfolio performance, and customer outcomes. You will also play a key role in operationalizing models and improving the end-to-end machine learning lifecycle within a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Accountabilities:
- Develop and deploy machine learning models for risk scoring, fraud detection, collections optimization, and portfolio management
- Work with large-scale structured and unstructured alternative data from multiple financial and non-financial sources
- Build and maintain automated model monitoring systems to track performance, stability, and drift over time
- Design and implement scalable end-to-end data pipelines from data ingestion to model output delivery
- Contribute to the development of model deployment frameworks to accelerate productionization of ML models
- Lead data science initiatives from ideation to execution, including planning, execution, and stakeholder communication
- Collaborate with compliance, banking partners, and model risk teams to support model governance, validation, and audit requirements
- Support business growth initiatives by leveraging predictive modeling to optimize marketing and customer targeting strategies
- Master’s or PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related quantitative field (Bachelor’s with strong experience considered)
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in data science, machine learning, and predictive modeling in real-world applications
- Strong expertise in ML techniques such as logistic regression, gradient boosting, and neural networks
- Proficiency in Python and experience with SQL, Spark SQL, Hive, and large-scale data processing
- Experience building scalable data pipelines and working with big data ecosystems
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS (EMR, SageMaker) or similar environments
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with a focus on business impact
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in cross-functional environments
- Experience working in fast-paced, agile, high-growth environments is highly preferred
