As part of TSG, our Architecture & Engineering team is responsible for:
  • Defining enterprise technology architecture and engineering principles and best practices.
  • Developing next-generation solutions focused on Resiliency and Innovation.
  • Engineering and integrating the critical systems and platforms used across the bank with external Clients.
Within Architecture and Engineering, our Mainframe Services team provides mainframe platforms to process critical priority business workload with best-in-class reliable, available, scalable and secure services. We engineer and deliver infrastructure solutions for service and support requests, incidents and changes and data center rotation workloads. We continue to modernize our mainframe platforms to achieve a DevOps model and implement platform-agnostic tools.

The Role

As a Senior DB2 for z/OS DBADM, you will manage complex DB2 systems for mission critical applications with plans to expand usage. In addition to ensuring the performance, stability and reliability of the database platform- the DBADM needs to support several upcoming projects that require a highly motivated individual to design, coordinate, implement and provide ongoing support.

As a Database Administrator , you will be responsible from the initial design phase of the application throughout development, testing, implementation and maintenance. After developing a good logical database design with the Data Administrator (DA) and a good physical database design with Systems Administrator (SYSADM) - you will primarily be concerned with any technical issues which may arise at each stage of development. You will be responsible for communicating specific

application systems requirements to SYSADM and working with SYSADM throughout the life of the project development cycle.

Once the application is finalized in development, you will continue to support with responsibilities including:
  • Design and definition of database objects (DDL)
  • Utility usage plan
  • Implementation of an application backup/recovery plan
  • Implementation of an application security plan
  • Data access methods
  • SQL code review
  • Tuning and efficiency
Responsibilities:
  • Logical Database Design participation
  • Assistance to SYSADM/DA in creating the Physical Database Design
  • Development of the test and acceptance database environments
  • Control and maintenance of the test and acceptance databases
  • Support for application design/development team
  • Support for application testing team
  • Design and technical issues regarding future database modifications and enhancements
  • Performance & Tuning from SQL to overall application's following DB2 best practices
  • Problem determination and remediation
  • Handle all applications issues/abends working with whatever technical and/or application resources that may be required.
Qualifications
  • 5 plus years' experience as a Database Administrator
  • Willing to work off days (weekends) and off hours EDT to assist in our "follow the sun" model
  • In-depth understanding of business and organizational dynamics and aware of contemporary concepts in IT infrastructure and production services
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise excellent judgment and maintain confidentiality with highly sensitive information
  • Strong written/verbal communication and presentations skills
  • Pragmatic problem solver, forward thinking with independence of thought
  • Demonstrated experience in leading change, with track record of identifying and implementing opportunities to improve operations and performance
