Job Summary
Surescripts is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to design, install, monitor, maintain, and performance tune production databases while ensuring high levels of data availability. This individual will serve as a key individual contributor with responsibilities for overall production Oracle, Hadoop, Cassandra and SQL Server database administration. The incumbent is also responsible for developing, implementing, and supporting database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software.
Senior Database Administrator Responsibilities
- Work independently and/or in a team environment to implement and manage database projects in a complex database environment
- Drive Oracle, Hadoop, Cassandra and SQL database direction: patches, upgrades, new features, tools, etc.
- Install and configure relevant network components to ensure database access as well as database consistency and integrity
- Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues
- Make recommendations on database products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts
- Implement, monitor, support and certify disaster recovery (DR) and data archival policies, procedures and strategies to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets
- Monitor, optimize and allocate physical data storage for database systems
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, a related field, or equivalent experience
- 7 years of experience in related, progressive roles
- Technically fluent in multiple database technologies such as Oracle, Hadoop, SQL Server, Cassandra, CockroachDB
- Technically fluent in current tools and platforms for building, testing. deploying, and monitoring database systems
- Experience with high volume, data intensive databases
- Experience with data replication tools such as Oracle Golden Gate
- Hands-on data and database troubleshooting experience
- Familiarity with languages such as Python and Shell
- Knowledge of database security and data privacy practices
- Healthcare technology industry experience
- Database/Data Management Systems: Oracle, Hadoop, SQL Server, Cassandra and CockroachDB
- Monitoring and Management Tools: Oracle Enterprise Manager, Cloudera Manager, Idera, Cassandra Op Center
- Other Tools and Features: Oracle Golden Gate, Standbys, CyberArk, Hashicorp Vault
- Hadoop Technologies: HDFS, Impala, HBase, NiFi
- Languages: Python, Bash/K Shell
We are currently working from home. Offices are open to those who want to go in with health safety protocols in place. This position will be eligible for a hybrid work schedule, where you will be able to split time between work from home and onsite work at our newly designed office.

Work Environment:
- Participate in 24*7 on-call DBA support rotation and be flexible to work after hours for production needs as required
