Summary
The Data Platform Administration Team is seeking an accomplished SQL Server and Db2 Database Administrator to join our global IT organization. In this position, you will contribute to maintaining a complete value chain from source systems to modern analytics platforms. We are looking for an innovative and driven administrator interested in providing outstanding support and furthering our data-driven culture by leading efforts to ensure the data platforms are available, current, performant, stable, and secure.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and support SQL Server RDBMS environments
- Administer and support Db2 RDBMS environments (Windows)
- Provide thought-leadership to deliver and maintain standards-based, reliable data platform solutions for the global enterprise
- Establish and document patching and version update plans to comply with (and provide input into) security, change management, and other applicable policies
- Lead, coordinate, manage, and execute Lifecycle Management (LCM) and patching efforts for SQL Server technologies (often requiring facilitation across multiple teams)
- Collaborate with other Simplot Technology teams on their data-related needs including advanced support of application databases
- Work with vendors and managed-service providers to enable their data-related needs/services and ensure their compliance with Simplot standards and policies
- Monitor for DB server health, database performance, and other indicators of potential issues and attempt to address them preemptively
- Refresh lower environments, perform database restores, and conduct regular disaster recovery simulations
- Utilize Azure DevOps for work item management, knowledge management (wiki), CI/CD automation, and source control
- Coordinate and prioritize the shared work item backlog with global DBA team members
- Participate in architectural/code reviews, produce documentation, and contribute to company-wide standards
- Contributes to strategic direction of team and executes on the tactical tasks to meet strategic goals
- Cultivate cross-functional, collaborative relationships with Data Owners/Stewards and IT Professionals
- Communicate technical and business topics to key Business Stakeholders and IT Leadership
- Manage and prioritize time across project, support, and enhancement initiatives
- Participate in L3 production support and incident response for our team's globally deployed, 7x24 environments
Typical Education
- Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university
Relevant Experience
- 5-8+ years related experience and/or training
- Proven technical leadership and mentorship skills
- Subject matter expertise in Microsoft SQL Server
- Administration and performance (engine, queries, indexes, etc.),
- Lifecycle Management and Patching
- High availability (primarily Always-On clustering),
- T-SQL, Change Data Capture, database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards
- Subject matter expertise in PowerShell automation
- Experience with IBM Db2 on Windows is desired
- Experience with Solarwinds DPA is a plus
- Project Management experience is a plus
- Experience with SSAS, SSIS, SSRS is a plus

Wage range or rate of pay: $100 - 145K Plus annual incentive plan eligibility
