As Senior Database Administrator, you would report to the Manager of Software Engineering, and would be primarily responsible for assisting Software Engineers working under the Scaled Agile framework. Your main responsibility would cover the implementation, configuration, security, maintenance, and performance tuning/monitoring of the Amadeus Hospitality database tier.

The focus of this role is to ensure best practices are following during database design/coding/release automation by application development teams for existing and future enterprise applications through the use of Microsoft SQL Server MySQL, Oracle, Mongo and other emerging SQL/NOSQL database technologies.

You will partner closely with cross functional teams that include Tech Ops, Product and Architecture to ensure delivery of our applications at the highest level of quality and performance.

This is a Hybrid role. The successful candidate my be in the Orlando, FL of Portsmouth, NH office, 50% of the time. There is no relocation package associated with this role.

In this role you'll:

• Design and create new SQL/NOSQL databases for microservices platform on prem and in the cloud. Maintain and enhance the performance of existing databases with strong emphasis on high availability and fault tolerance.
• Collaborate with Architecture and Application development teams in High level Data-tier design for hospitality products. This would include using appropriate database technology, creating database schemas, evaluating query patterns, reports and analytics, and data movement/distribution (SSIS, Azure DataFactory, etc.)
• Upgrade databases to latest versions, monitor overall health using available tools (DPA, extended events etc), take appropriate data management improvement actions like partitioning, indexes, in-memory tables etc
• Manage databases through phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), from development through critical Production systems. Collaborate with TechOps to manage and create standards, procedures, and policies for governing database environments
• Provide technical guidance to multiple application development teams in design and development of database components. Provide escalation support, troubleshooting and resolution assistance, and performance tuning aid for the R&D and operational database teams.

About the ideal candidate:

• Education: Bachelors or higher. Master's degree preferred.
• Relevant Work Experience:
  • 8+ years managing Microsoft SQL Server database technologies, such as SQL Server, AzureSQL, SSIS, SSRS, CosmosDb, DataFactory, Synapse Analytics, DataBricks for enterprise applications
  • 2+ years experience working with Azure or other cloud technologies is preferred.
  • 2+ years experience working in any NOSQL(or other database technologies used in the industry) technology
• Business Understanding:
  • Understanding the hospitality transactional patterns for clear and concise capacity management.
  • Overall domain knowledge and functional understanding of the Hospitality Industry is a plus: CRS, CRM, Loyalty, PMS, Sales and Events, RMS, Service Optimization, Channels and Distribution.
• Skills:
  • Computing:
    • Certification in one or more database platforms is preferred.
    • Able to troubleshoot complex database engine performance or technical issues.
    • Collaborate with Application development teams in designing databases and developing efficient queries based on load and use case.
    • Collaborate with and understand the infrastructure team dependencies on the database environment.
    • Ability to plan and execute tasks related to maintenance, upgrades, failovers and other database system sustaining activities as required.
  • Language Skills: SQL, T-SQL
  • Specific Knowledge: Other industry certifications such as SAFe or ITIL a plus
  • Other:
