Senior Database Architect - Remote

The Senior Database Architect is responsible for overseeing the vision, architecture, structure, operations, cost, and performance of the overall database configuration within SonicWall. The role encompasses developing strategies and architectural designs using sound, repeatable, industry best practices and in accordance with Agile Software Development to support the needs of SonicWall. We are looking to grow our Architecture team, and this is an exciting opportunity for someone to impact the team globally in a meaningful way.
Key Responsibilities:

• Responsibilities include evangelizing data on cloud solutions with customers, and leading Business and IT stakeholders through designing robust, secure, and optimized Databases.
• Document and maintain data architecture guidelines, principles and standards, best practices, patterns, and frameworks applicable to all data needs within the software portfolio.
• Provide architectural leadership and guidance, particularly in the data and database areas.
• Collaborate on functional and technical designs to identify areas of risk and validate assumptions.
• Assist in vendor/product selection activities, including developing vendor/product evaluation models, particularly in the data and database areas.
• Collaborate with the Product Owner/Manager to define the high-level data architectural needs and plans.
• Lead the definition of technical standards and guidelines that pertain to data and information use, security, and access.

• Design, implement, and troubleshoot large distributed systems.
• Experience in migrating on-prem databases to the cloud.
• Assist in the construction of data for the purpose of load testing.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills: ­­
Required:
• Must have a valid AWS Certified Database – Specialty.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in Database Architecture, Database management, and data warehouse architecture and delivery.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in 2 of the following areas:
o Solution/technical architecture in the cloud.
o Big Data/analytics/information analysis/database management in the cloud.
o Experience in developing or supporting Event-driven/microservices in the cloud.
o Experience with private and public cloud architectures, pros/cons, and migration considerations.
o Extensive hands-on experience implementing data migration and data processing using AWS services: Redshift, RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, Lambda, Spark, Glue, Sage Maker, AI/ML, API GW, etc.
o Familiarity with the Technology stack available in the industry for data management, data ingestion, capture, processing, and curation: Kafka, StreamSets, Attunity, GoldenGate, etc.

Preferred:
• Background working in software and SaaS Services offerings.
• Background and experience building and managing large global services platforms.
