Senior Designer
Job Description
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Sr. Designer develops design solutions to support marketing strategy, by conceptualizing, designing, and executing high-end marketing initiatives. This position will participate in all facets of development, production, and manufacturing of projects from concept through delivery.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop concepts and lead creative solutions with copy teams for assigned accounts across the full palette of brand expression: print, retail, packaging, OOH, digital, events and experiential, social media, and motion graphics.
- Lead and supervise all design initiatives for assigned accounts, ensuring appropriate design quality, marketing, and brand identities for projects.
- Oversee and ensure that concepts and/or designs for assigned initiatives meet stakeholder expectations, are within budget, and deadlines are met.
- Lead or is an active participant in brainstorming sessions with creative teams to determine direction, production, timelines, budgets, and unique requirements for each project.
- Assess unique requirements for initiatives and determines strategic recommendations which meet marketing objectives and budgets.
- Research and evaluate creative and technical trends and uses knowledge to develop cutting-edge creative.
- Partner and collaborate with directors, print production, and appropriate stakeholders to ensure creative is executed based on the creative vision and expectations.
- Provide creative mentorship to Designers and Production Artists; guiding on design techniques, print capabilities and ways to anticipate and solve creative challenges. Perform other job-related duties as requested.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in art or graphic design, or a related field; or equivalent education and work experience.
- 1 + years' experience in an in-house agency or external creative agency or related experience. Professional online portfolio showcasing work.
PREFERRED:
- 6 + years' experience in design in an agency, in-house or freelance.
- Knowledge of design best practices in print, digital, and social platforms.
- Experience developing and managing holistic consumer facing brand systems in an integrated environment. Previous experience working in a similar hospitality, hotel, or resort setting.
- Understanding of motion graphics and its connection to design, program knowledge a plus.
- Understanding of Digital Content Creation best practices as relates to various social and video platforms.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Advanced knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) with a proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
- Ability to articulately present artistic ideas, concepts and/or designs to various stakeholders.
- Advanced knowledge of typography rules and conventions and typographic combinations for complimentary results.
- Advanced understanding of composition, layout, color theory and typography.
- Advanced knowledge of production to write complex specifications and incorporate binding techniques, die cuts, varnishes, coatings, foils, embosses and specialty paper.
- Ability to troubleshoot files, pre-press, press and bindery issues.
- Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to create, foster and maintain an environment of cross-department collaboration, knowledge sharing / learning, and support.
- Must be calm under pressure, can excel, be organized, and thrive in a multi-tasking, deadline-driven, high-volume quick-turn demanding environment.
- Ability and flexibility to adapt to changes and ambiguity.
