Position Summary:
Reporting to the Lead Engineer, this backend-focused, mission-driven Developer will join the Deepwatch Research and Development team and contribute to the planning, design, development, and maintenance of a serverless API-driven, customer-facing SaaS product.
Join a highly collaborative product development team building a customer-facing portal for a well-funded startup. Deepwatch provides critical cybersecurity products and services to power the cyber defense for enterprises which makes the digital world a safer place for folks like you and me. As a member, you will contribute to our product mission to help our customers understand their existing cybersecurity landscape and opportunities for improvements. As a backed-focused engineer, we will be building a secure and high-performance API platform and a modern data platform that can handle near-real-time data feed.
In this role, you’ll get to:
- Support the organization’s analytical needs in batch and near-real-time as a Data Engineer by:
- Contributing to a modern ELT data pipeline using Snowflake, dbt, and Monte Carlo data monitoring
- Working on other types of data such as streaming (Kafka, Kinesis) and data storage technologies (NoSQL, Elasticsearch) to enhance our data collection and usage capabilities in future projects
- Help enterprises protect themselves from malicious attacks as a Senior Backend Engineer by leading feature implementation on a Typescript-based serverless GraphQL API server with Aurora database in AWS
- Enhance our CI/CD pipeline by building and extending our secure infrastructure through AWS CDK and/or Terraform
- Contribute to software architecture design and drive them from inception to reality, leveraging other engineers’ feedback and assistance

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to:
- Demonstrate the level of object-oriented programming understanding typically associated with 3-5 years of programming experience in Python or Javascript/Typescript
- Possess cloud-computing know-how to provision, configure, scale, and troubleshoot a cloud-native backend API service with one or more persistent storage. AWS is preferred but relevant experience from Azure or GCP is acceptable.
- Have strong hands-on experience with SQL. Know what CTE, window functions, columnar storage, and execution plans are.
- Leverage your hands-on experience in enterprise software/product development, along with your understanding of critical information and security components
- Possess familiarity with agile development processes and test-driven development.
- Be self-driven, hold yourself accountable for outcomes, and manage your own time working in a flexible and remote-first environment
- Communicate openly with the product development team to ensure the best idea wins
- Keep an open mind to receive and implement security advice from our internal security experts to make the software secure
- Win as a team and lose as a team, while maintaining a healthy work-life balance
- Be willing and able to travel for internal gatherings and team-building events on an (at-most) quarterly basis

Colorado* Candidates:
For applicants in Colorado the salary range for this role is $124,000 to $155,000 + stock options + benefits. Actual compensation may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level.
