Senior Developer – Finance / IR / Tax
Job Description
Viking Global Investors LP is a global investment firm founded in 1999. We manage more than $37 billion of capital for our investors across long/short, long-only, and liquid/illiquid strategies. We have approximately 240 employees and offices in Greenwich, New York, Hong Kong, London, and San Francisco.
LOCATION: Greenwich, CT (Hybrid - 3 days in office, 2 days work from home)
JOB FUNCTION
The Senior Developer will work closely with a team of senior engineers, business analysts, and business users, with responsibility for supporting our Accounting and Investor Relations systems. Primary responsibilities include:
- Join a team of five engineers focused on Accounting, IR and Tax solutions underpinned by Advent Geneva and Geneva World Investor
- Design, develop, deploy, and support .NET Core services with Angular font ends to supplement vendor platforms
- Work closely with our Accounting, IR and Tax teams to deliver new functionality, resolve issues, answer questions, and provide the best user experience possible
QUALIFICATIONS
A successful candidate must have:
- 5+ years of experience building software in an object-oriented language (C# preferred)
- Experience with modern web technologies (JavaScript, Angular, React, NodeJS, Typescript, etc.)
- A domain driven design strategy and philosophy
- Proficiency in relational database technologies (SQL Server preferred)
- A focus on clean code and automated tests, grounded in strong CS fundamentals
- Passion for technology and software design, with pride of ownership and drive to keep a high bar
- Comfort working independently through complexity in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communications skills, a great attitude, and the ability to build strong working relationships
The ideal candidate may also have:
- Experience working in a buy-side asset manager or other financial services firm
- Experience in portfolio and partnership accounting systems development and support
- Experience in private equity partnership accounting
- Advent Geneva and Geneva World Investor experience
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for keeping up with new tools and techniques
- Understanding of software design patterns and common anti-patterns
The base salary range for this position in New York City is $200,000 to $300,000. In addition to base salary, Viking employees may be eligible for other forms of compensation and benefits, such as a discretionary bonus, 100% coverage of medical and dental premiums, and paid lunches. Actual compensation for successful candidates will be individually determined based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s skill set, experience, education, and other qualifications.
