The Global Advertising and Brand Management (GABM) organization has a mission to create marketplace demand and drive commerce for American Express through differentiated and innovative products, partnerships, marketing, and customer experiences.

The Senior Developer will report to the OnBrand Production Director and on an interim basis will report to the Development Lead. OnBrand is American Express' In-House Creative agency, and we're on a journey for exciting expansion. Our ambition is:Become creative partner-of-choice to build seamless customer experiences for our Business Units, essential for driving results and unlocking value through deeper knowledge of our business powered by industry-defining creative excellence. We are focused on developing forward thinking ideas and work across channels, end-to-end experiences in digital and beyond.

To be successful in this role, the candidate must exhibit outstanding judgment, solution-oriented thinking and superior technical skills. The Senior Developer will be responsible to work with the Production team leadership to drive solutions for complex projects and navigate changes in scope to deliver a successful project. They will also partner with account and creative teams to balance the expectations of clients with the execution of creative work.

This individual will focus on enabling strategic and creative elements of the agency, but also playing a critical role to support the overall team to develop best-in-industry agency talent and build a culture delivering transformative work

Day to day responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Responsibilities

• Execute development for a range of multiple parallel project engagements
• Working with the design team to develop the overall look and design of a website
• Writing code for digital platforms using HTML, CSS and Javascript
• Producing, maintaining and modifying websites and user interfaces
• Ensuring websites are cross-browser
• Routinely testing websites for ease of use, speed and other quality factors
• Troubleshooting and fixing any website issues or bugs that arise
• Provide peer coaching and oversight for more junior developers on project based work

Skills / Qualifications

• 5+ years of development experience
• Ability to create custom code according to coding standards and best practices
• Advanced knowledge in HTML, PHP, CSS, and JS
• Advanced knowledge in Version Control System such as Git and BitBucket
• Advanced Knowledge in DNS, MX Records, SSH, FTP, and cPanel
• Strong understanding of best practices around security, privacy, accessibility and performance
• Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• Ability to work with a Project Management tool (e.g., Workfront)
