The Sr Development Scientist for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for:
- Keep tabs on laboratory workflow for Hematology Instruments and help ensure that the testing supports consumable claims.
- Prepare reagent/control bench batches and Development Scale up lots.
- Ensure that the product meets requirements specifications.
- Prepares procedures and reports, accurately documenting the execution of the test procedures and test results in accordance with departmental procedures and, assist in troubleshooting product performance issues by interacting with Engineering or other departments.
- Be part of a multidisciplinary, innovative, and diverse team
- Follow all safety procedures and policies in the laboratory.
This position is part of the Hematology Business Unit located in Miami, Florida and will be on-site. At Beckman Coulter, our vision is to relentlessly reimagine healthcare, one diagnosis at a time.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Conduct testing of new or modified hematology analyzers/reagents and ensures that testing is performed and documented according to plans and schedules. Reagent verification/characterization testing includes reagent stability testing, raw material characterization, Test Method validation, Quality Control, Calibration, and analysis of whole blood samples.
- Analyze data using statistical methods, interpret technical data; promptly report and document issues, and collect data to support global registration of consumables.
- Be a change agent, continuously striving for improvement, and work within an agile environment.
- Participate in the design and Development of new consumables.
- Represent the Reagents group in Project's Core team.
- Fulfill your leadership potential and grow into a people leader in the future.
- Solve problems with creative, out-of-the-box thinking.
- Execute daily work with multiple tasks and minimal supervision.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- BS, MS, or PhD in Biological Sciences or Chemistry with 8+, 5+, or 2+ years of relevant experience, respectively
- Product development experience in industry setting
- Demonstrated ability to lead a small team.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, multidisciplinary environment that embraces change, risk, and flexibility.
- Proven track record of applying fundamental research to the identification of leverageable technologies leading to the introduction of innovative industry disruptive products.
- Able to lift 40 lbs unassisted.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Experience with the following laboratory test equipment: pH meter, Osmometer, Conductivity Meter, Spectrophotometer, HPLC (preferred), Beckman Coulter Particle Counter (preferred)
- Capability and experience of serving as a Core Team lead.
- Experience leading technical teams.
- Capability and proven track record of collaboration with external Development Partners, OEM Vendors, and Third-Party Manufacturers
