Overview

Ripcord is seeking a hands-on DevOps Engineer who will maintain and deploy remote Ripcord cloud environments. The ideal engineer will bring their experiences, best practices, and a collaborative attitude to help drive DevOps initiatives. To be successful, one must effectively communicate with our development, delivery and IT teams to orchestrate the creation of solutions that can scale. The responsibilities include building a process for automation as well as contributing to the development of internal tools to achieve operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Implement DevOps infrastructure projects in various Cloud environments (AWS & AWS GovCloud, GCP and on-prem deployments)
  • Maintain and deploy secure automation solutions for testing, and production environments
  • Maintain and deploy automation, monitoring, and analysis solutions of dev, test and production environments
  • Manage the continuous integration and delivery pipeline to maximize efficiency
  • Implement industry best practices for system hardening and configuration management
  • Secure, scale, and manage Kubernetes clusters
  • Develop and maintain solutions for operational administration of:
    • System/data backup and disaster recovery
    • Continuous Security response and threat mitigation
    • Resource scaling to meet client and customer demands
  • Continuously evaluate existing systems with industry standards, and make recommendations for improvement
  • Supporting quality improvement initiatives through DevOps
  • Work with engineering representatives to design and implement deployment and provisioning mechanisms.

Desired Skills & Experiences

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Experience running multiple Kubernetes clusters (EKS, RKE2, GKE, etc.) for a product at scale in a multi-tenant architecture
  • Experience deploying, upgrading, monitoring on-prem and cloud kubernetes clusters
  • Strong knowledge of Kubernetes fundamentals: from ingress to storage
  • Understanding of system administration in Linux environments
  • Strong knowledge of automation tooling (Github, Helm, Argo CD, Jenkins, Terraform) and leveraging them for GitOps pipelines and high-frequency continuous deployment
  • Proficiency in AWS account management, and cost optimization
  • Experience with monitoring tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, and the EFK (Elastic/Filebeat/Kibana) stack
  • Familiarity with system administration and operations of Linux servers
  • Knowledge of networking technologies such as DNS, TLS, Load Balancing, TCP/IP
  • Proficiency in scripting with Bash, Python and Go
  • Strong communication and documentation skills - clear documentation of work and designs using Jira and Confluence
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle, deployment procedures, change management, and ongoing system support
  • An ability to drive to goals and milestones while valuing and maintaining a strong attention to detail
  • Excellent judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated individual that possesses excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong English language skills

Having one or more of the following is a plus

  • Experience with delivery of a SaaS product
  • Strong experience with DBA-like tasks for infrastructure and application layer management and tuning is a major plus, especially on Postgres
  • Strong understanding of micro-services and related architectures
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator is a major plus
  • Certified AWS SysOps Administrator and/or AWS DevOps Engineer is a major plus

Ripcord carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, skills, and experience. The anticipated annual cash compensation for this role is between $158,000 - $171,000. Additionally, Ripcord offers excellent benefits and stock options to all full-time employees.
