Senior DevOps Engineer

We're looking for a senior DevOps engineer to join our fast-growing team and work alongside our existing DevOps. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in DevOps or platform-related roles, including Kubernetes deployment to multiple environments, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, recovery, and scaling. The salary range is £80-110K, with two days a week in our London office.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain services in multiple environments (AWS, Azure, proprietary cloud) using Kubernetes.
• Build and maintain systems deployment, monitoring and recovery processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth deployment and operation of software solutions.
• Contribute to engineering standards, tooling, processes, and culture through code review, pairing, and post-mortems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
• Be available for (hopefully very rarely used!) emergency on-call support.

A key part of your role will be ensuring that the wider engineering team can follow modern DevOps-style practices and quickly move new features to production with confidence that our systems and infrastructure will 'just work'. Additionally, as a young company experiencing very fast growth, we need people who will enthusiastically jump into tasks outside of their field of expertise when necessary. There will be a fair amount of 'greenfield' development!

You must have:

• Substantial experience in building and maintaining cloud development and hosting infrastructure using Kubernetes, across multiple environments.
• Substantial experience in triaging, diagnosing and resolving issues in production.
• Enough coding knowledge to engage with developers, understand error logging, and manage CI/CD processes.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

This role may include systems access to sensitive data. We will give preference to candidates who meet the basic requirements for government security clearance and are willing to undergo national security vetting to at least BPSS level.

Bonus points if you have experience in:

• Diagnosing and remedying performance issues with databases or other infrastructure services.
• Managing secure multi-account infrastructure in AWS, using Control Tower.
• Managing arrangements for client-owned deployments of software.
• AI-powered online services.
• ML / data infrastructure and pipelines, including for LLMs.

We are a hybrid-working company, with two days in our office near King's Cross each week.
