Job Summary

Southern Company Corporate Communications is looking for an exceptional storyteller and executive producer who is passionate about creating engaging and compelling content to join the team. In this position, you will shoot, edit, and manage the end-to-end production process for content creation (i.e., videos, internal TV shows, podcast, etc.) that innovatively brings the Southern Company brand and business initiatives to life internally and externally. Must have strong listening, writing, creative, and project management skills; experience editing/producing/shooting for linear, digital, and social platforms; work collaboratively in a team environment; and be able to provide world class customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Must be a content creator who can shoot and edit video and be comfortable on camera and interviewing.
• Create story ideas and pitches with little supervision.
• Lead the creative and production process from conception, scriptwriting, content calendar, field production through post-production and distribution.
• Savvy in the creation of short-form (under :30), medium-form and long-form (2:00-30:00) scripted and non-scripted content for various platforms.
• Excellent writing and communication skills. Ability to articulate a production plan in a concise and clear manner and writing intranet and external website stories that support content.
• Ability to lead and collaborate successfully across internal and external partners.
• Create and manage multiple project timelines to ensure projects are completed efficiently, on time and within budget.
• Ability to identity and apply key metrics to evaluate content effectiveness

Qualifications

• BA/BFA degree or experience within the TV news/entertainment/creative/marketing industry

Related Work Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a field producer/reporter, news producer, assignment editor/reporter, or multimedia/production experience at an agency or company
• Applicant may possess a combination of equivalent education and work experience.

Specific Skills & Knowledge:

• Strong project management skills
• Innovative thinker who knows how to work within a brand voice and stay abreast of emerging trends
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite experience and comfort using equipment in a video production studio
• Must be comfortable using camera and basic lighting equipment
• Strong editing skills and knowledge of videography
• Strong attention to detail - ability to proof own work to ensure quality control
• Ability to design/edit on a PC or Mac platform
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment while maintaining a high degree of accuracy
