Allen Media Digital, a subsidiary of Allen Media Group, is developing and delivering digital streaming channels and products for consumers that focus on everything entertainment, sports and news. We are looking for a transactional attorney who enjoys problem solving and working directly with business leads to ensure product growth doesn't lead to legal headaches. The role will include providing legal and business-related advice for AMG's digital and OTT properties, including The Weather Channel, The Weather Channel en Espanol, Local Now, HBCU Go, theGrio, Pattrn and Sports.tv). The role will have a high level of responsibility and will work directly with the various business units of Allen Media Group.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of contracts for direct-to-consumer digital media products, including inbound and outbound content licenses (e.g., FAST Channels, movie and series AVOD and SVOD titles) and channel and application platform distribution agreements (e.g., OTT, broadcast, MVPD, vMVPD, and CTV).
  • Evaluate and analyze legal and business issues in digital media with a practical, business-oriented approach to problem-solving in a technology driven environment.
  • Partner with cross functional teams, including Finance, Marketing, Distribution and Product to move the business forward.
  • Draft, negotiate and interpret a variety of transactional agreements, such as vendor, independent contractor, equipment, data collection, data privacy, SaaS and technology.
  • Work with the development and product team to understand operational and technical workflow and documentation, including data collection and sharing.
  • Structure and negotiate agreements with advertisers, ad servers, ad exchanges and ad tech platforms and technology.
  • Work with other members of the legal team.
  • Perform day to day legal related tasks as needed and assigned.

Experience and Skills:

  • 6 - 12 years transactional legal experience (at least 3+ years in-house), preferably in television, digital media, or digital technology.
  • J.D. and admission to at least one U.S. state bar (Georgia or New York, preferred), or in-house counsel registration provided the applicant is licensed in at least one U.S. state.
  • Familiarity with licensing agreements.
  • General knowledge of privacy regulations data privacy laws (i.e., CPPA, CPRA).
  • Exceptional legal analysis skills.
  • Ability to balance legal requirements with business needs to effectively work with business teams.
  • Ideal candidate must be able to work independently and handle a high volume of legal matters, while also working well with business partners and all levels of management.
  • Experience in reviewing the work product of other attorneys and paralegals.
  • Self-motivated and well organized with the ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial and fast paced environment.

Position Salary range: $175k - $200k

The annual/hourly pay range displayed serves as a good faith estimate of the minimum and maximum base pay range for this role. Compensation for the role will be based on a number of different factors such as a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, location, and experience.
