Marqeta is looking for an accomplished and energized Senior Manager - Anti-Financial Crime/AML Officer with a passion for developing and implementing strong compliance programs. This is a highly cross-functional and strategic role that requires strong partnerships with our Business Development, Product Management, and Legal teams as well as our bank partners to conceive and execute a strategy that ensures compliance while supporting innovation.
The successful candidate is a smart, ambitious, and experienced leader who can craft compelling narratives for Marqeta’s global AML compliance programs, understand the regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions, develop appropriate policies and procedures to support the product vision of Marqeta and our customers, and work cross-functionally to drive unified messaging and positioning within the organization and with our partners.
We are looking for a compliance and regulatory professional who wants to make the "next move" in their career. You will be a leader within the Risk & Compliance organization, driving thought leadership, leading the development of global AML compliance policies and implementation of AML compliance programs. You will be a trusted subject matter expert working closely with your internal and external partners to establish an efficient, scalable and effective program that identifies and mitigates risks while enabling growth.
- Developing and maintaining appropriate global AML compliance policies and standards (such as AML, KYC and CDD) and supporting their effective implementation throughout the company
- Responding to changes in relevant laws, regulations, identifying impacts across the enterprise, adjusting policy as necessary, and coordinating with relevant stakeholders to provide guidance on implementation
- Provides support and guidance to the business lines on AML compliance policy, regulatory interpretation and implementation
- Continuously improve standard AML compliance policies and processes to help scale the compliance function;
- Work in partnership with other members of the Risk & Compliance and Legal teams
- Assists in the development of AML compliance training for Marqeta and our customers as required.
- 8+ years of relevant experience, preferably within the payments industry, in: AML Compliance, Regulatory Management, Client regulatory support.
- Knowledge of current and emerging payment systems regulation/supervision within the US, Canada and UK/EU, and in particular AML regulators;Â
- Experience working directly with, or supporting internal control functions in technology, payments/banking or working directly with regulators within the US, Canada and UK/EU, and in particular AML regulators and banking regulators;
- Familiarity with bank regulations, network rules and consumer protection regulations;
- Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and deliver in a fast paced and dynamic environment with a high degree of personal accountability, quality, accuracy, integrity and trust;
- Analytical and problem solving experience with a strong focus on quality assurance of output;
- Promoting a culture of accountability and early escalation of issues;
- High EQ and excellent written and oral communication skills;
- A good sense of humor.
