Senior Director, Business Strategy and Operations, Yahoo News
Job Description
We are seeking a seasoned, organized and creative senior leader to join the Yahoo News organization, working closely with the General Manager of Yahoo News and other key stakeholders to develop and manage key cross-functional initiatives, ensure we deliver on important product and business priorities and facilitate effective collaboration between different parts of the organization.
The person in this role is organized, highly communicative and self-motivated. They enjoy collaboration, especially when working cross-functionally, solving complex problems and delivering great products to users. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment where transformation is a given and enjoys being in a supportive role helping leadership drive key initiatives forward.
In this role, the senior director of business strategy and operations will be a key partner to leaders across the Yahoo News team. They will work with leaders across the organization to ensure we are delivering on our most important priorities by optimizing workflows, ensuring communications are effective and driving key projects forward.
Responsibilities:
- Help define and execute the Yahoo News strategy in collaboration with the General Manager of Yahoo News and other key leaders
- Organize, motivate and lead senior stakeholders from across the enterprise
- Lead complex, large scale business-critical initiatives, particularly those that span multiple teams
- Manage projects ranging from strategic planning to operational process design, organizational design and implementation, to Board-level projects and presentations
- Drive clarity around priorities, facilitating timely, fact-based decisions and provide clear and actionable feedback to leadership and to teams
- Identify metrics-driven insights, plus recommended actions
- Lead the development and presentation of business strategy projects, including market and competitive insights, new growth opportunities, assessment of current strategies, identifying and evaluating strategic options
- Move seamlessly between multiple priorities effectively, tracking progress transparently and guiding next steps
- Develop additional internal and external communications including briefings, letters, agendas, communications, decks, and more
- Communicate and collaborate daily with executives and key stakeholders across the company locally and internationally
- Foster a collaborative and positive culture of customer-centricity, accountability, integrity, teamwork and open communication across the organization
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience managing at a senior level, including at least three years with high-level product management responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
- 10+ years of relevant experience in an operating role, preferably involving product development in media, advertising, or analytics
- Entrepreneurial leadership experience and exposure to high growth, mid-sized enterprises in technology, product, design or editorial
- Detail oriented with ability to scale and move quickly to drive results/action
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills that are effective with colleagues and partners at multiple levels of leadership, from executives to individual contributors
- Experience must include a track record of success and results driven by the candidate, demonstrating creative solutions to challenging problems
- Proactive, motivated self-starter, with ability to thrive in ambiguity and learn new skills quickly and enthusiastically
- Track record of effective partnership with a variety of stakeholders in rapidly changing conditions
Preferred Qualifications:
- Track record of fast career progression, especially through internal promotion
- Demonstrated passion for continuous learning, improvement, and sharing best practices
- Tech or media industry experience strongly preferred

The compensation for this position ranges from $159,140.00 - $346,075.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
