Senior Director, Business Technology is a senior leader who proactively consults with key stakeholders across the organization to improve business IT infrastructure (Corporate network, Corporate Security, Endpoint Engineering & Mgmt), Business applications specifically including but not limited to: Workday and other HRIS systems, Salesforce, Zoura, Intacct, Workday financial and other back office systems, AWS (integration), and Partner platforms. This also includes DevOps tools (Jira, Github, Atlassian, etc) for FDX, BC, and future acquisitions. As part of our Operations team, you’ll instill an innovative, agile mindset within our IT and Business Applications organization, striking the right balance of agility, urgency process, and structure. An expert communicator and technologist, you hold your teams to high standards and inspire each individual to excel in ways that add value to the business and our clients.

What You Will Do
- As part of the CIO organization, you will partner with the leadership team; understand the company’s vision; and support the development and alignment of IT strategies for future growth, with an emphasis on planning for BigCommerce’s growth and future organizational needs
- Partner with the Transformation leadership team in the implementation and development processes for our GTM (Sales, Marketing, and Support), Financial Operations (Accounting and FP&A), HR organization, and Marketing (Web platform and Marketing automation tools) organizations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with P&E leadership and collaborate with P&E team to design a future state integration approach between the business applications and product platform functionality (BMP)
- Mentor and develop a management layer to set up our business expansions for success. Ensure there is a development plan for each employee within the IT/BizApps organization
- Manage demand queue with business stakeholders to ensure priorities are aligned across the organization
- Work closely with the Cyber & GRC teams to ensure security priorities are embedded in BC’s design and development practices and advocate for security, GRC, and SOX prioritization in the business technology initiatives
- Continuously improve IT processes across the Company; improve functionality and eliminate redundancies
- Strong financial acumen and discipline, understanding technology spend working with FP&A representation
- Collaborate with strategic procurement to identify opportunities to reduce redundancies across FDX, BC and future acquisitions
- Communicate and integrate company-wide technology standards, applications and infrastructure
- Excluding Transformation initiatives, this role is responsible to evaluate and select technology in partnership with business stakeholders, develop, and implement new technology as needed to support the company
- Partner with the Enterprise architect and Data solution leadership to ensure business technology ecosystem is cohesive, agile, and scalable to support the evolving needs of the business
- Strong experience with M&A due diligence and integration planning from a technology perspective
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies and standards, as well as Data Privacy and Information security laws and regulations, aimed at maximizing effectiveness and minimizing costs related to the acquisition, implementation, and operation of IT systems
- Provide focused, business-minded IT leadership, emphasizing IT’s measurable contribution to business success and business metrics (revenue growth, profitability, customer service, expense, etc.)
- Analyze and identify security risks; develop solutions aimed at improving information security capabilities
- Maintain security of all proprietary data; provide complete backup of all computer systems in case of system failure or disaster
- Balance internal and external IT members and resources
Who You Are
- 15 + years of progressive IT experience in a fast-paced, high-growth business with global hands-on knowledge
- Experience successfully supporting and scaling enterprise sales organization and customer support centers required. Extensive enterprise business application software (ie Salesforce, Workday, Zoura, Sage/Intacct, Nexonia, Bill.com) experience is a must
- Experience integrating the various IT platforms of acquired companies into a cohesive unified system; synergizing a multi-site and global IT platform
- Experience implementing and integrating Enterprise Applications
- Experience with network design, configuration, installation, maintenance, support and troubleshooting
- Direct experience with IT planning and budget management
- Excellent communication; ability to gain the confidence of senior executive audiences or higher.
- Ability to evolve with a rapidly changing environment, make decisions, prioritize, and meet or exceed deadlines.
- Maintains knowledge of current and emerging technologies.
- Due to the global nature of the role, flexibility in work schedule; Ability to work variable extended hours may include extensive travel at times which can include evenings and/or weekends
- Maintain a valid passport to travel overseas when required
- Ambitious yet humble with a passion for leading and developing successful, high-performance teams

Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range (or have the minimum apply to them), but rather, the exact salary will be dependent on the successful candidate’s location, relevant knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
Targeted salary range
$224,000—$378,000 USD
