Senior Director, Core Infrastructure Engineering

Marqeta seeks a Senior Director of Enterprise Infrastructure for the Business Technology team. This team interacts with a broad array of internal business, product, and Marqeta partners to deliver a common, scalable, and secure platform to run applications and services powering the entire company. Managing this team requires a comprehensive understanding of a wide range of technologies, a focus on growing and developing the skills and talents of your teams, and a relentless drive to focus on high-value projects and prioritize ruthlessly. This is an opportunity to transform the enterprise foundation (network, compute, storage, datacenter operations) at Marqeta, and work with a highly diverse set of technology requirements from hybrid infra to ultra-low latency computing.

• Deliver global footprint supporting all of Marqeta - highly resilient, globally distributed infrastructure, including compute, storage, datacenter and availability both on-prem & in the cloud.
• Initiate transformational strategies to enhance IT infrastructures and applications to meet
• Drive strategic planning and scaling of Marqeta’s enterprise infrastructure by evaluating current and future enterprise infrastructure needs.
• Manage a team to navigate technical problem spaces in the realm of Application Services, APIs, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure.
• Drive efficiency while leveraging automation and innovation to scale to support Marqeta’s needs.
• Manage and grow a team of key talents to build a top-performing organization able to support Marqeta’s rapid growth.
• Work closely with partnering teams to deliver services that meet their business and product needs.
• Build productive partnerships with various security, technology, engineering, and analytics teams across Marqeta
• Define and promote Cloud Center of Excellence program strategy and support CCoE Council

• 10+ years of experience leading and managing distributed teams within an engineering organization.
• Experience in creating and managing teams.
• Experience designing an infrastructure strategy and executing the vision behind it.
• Experience instilling a culture of ownership, collaboration, and results.
• Track record of recruiting talent in network, system and storage engineering.
• Proven relationship management skills and experience working within a global organization.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of all IT Infrastructure domains (Networking, Cloud Computing, Unified Communications, IAM, etc) is desired
• Able to communicate with multiple vendors across multiple baselines both hardware and software
• Ability to bridge silos and bring different teams together while working towards a common goal
• Deep experience with distributed systems, distributed data stores, data pipelines, and other tools in cloud services environments (e.g AWS, GCP)
