As the Sr. Director of Data Analytics, you will be responsible for overseeing and leading the data analytics function within the organization. Your primary focus will be to leverage data-driven insights to inform strategic decision-making, enhance business performance, and drive innovation across various departments. This role requires a deep understanding of data analysis techniques, advanced analytics, and a strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals.
This role will manage a team of four and will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer. The role will be hybrid, with an in-office component in our NYC office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Influence and maintain a comprehensive data analytics strategy aligned with the organization's overall business objectives.
- Identify opportunities to leverage data for competitive advantage, process optimization, and improved customer experiences.
- Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous learning within the team.
- Oversee the data dashboard and reporting functionality of the business; foster a data culture within the company built around data-fluency and self-service analytics.
- Define ongoing data needs of sales, marketing, finance, and products teams; prioritize and solve those needs with data visualizations, analyses, and/or models.
- Use statistical analysis, data mining, machine learning, and other advanced analytics techniques to derive valuable insights from various data sources.
- Lead and manage a team of data analysts.
- Monitor data analytics projects' progress and performance to ensure timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
- Present complex data findings in a clear and concise manner to senior management and other stakeholders.
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for measuring the effectiveness of data analytics initiatives.
- Collaborate with Data Engineering and IT teams to design and maintain data infrastructure, ensuring data accessibility and integrity.
- Propose and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of data analytics operations.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in data analytics.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in data science, computer science, statistics, mathematics, or a related field. An MBA could be beneficial for understanding business implications.
- Proven experience (8-10 years) in strategic data analysis, with 4- 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a solid understanding of various statistical and machine learning techniques.
- Fluent in data manipulation and analysis tools such as SQL, Python, R, and data visualization tools like Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing data analytics projects that have had a measurable impact on business outcomes.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and in executive-level presentations.
- Strong leadership abilities with a track record of effectively managing and motivating a team of data professionals.
- Knowledge of data governance, privacy regulations, and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) is a plus.

The starting salary for this role is between $170,000 - $195,000, depending on skills and experience. We take a geo-neutral approach to compensation within the US, meaning that we pay based on job function and level, not location. We have competitive pay bands for all other countries based on market standards. Individual compensation decisions are based on several factors, including experience level, skill set, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company. Based on these factors, we expect most of the candidates offered roles at our company to fall healthily throughout the range. We recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description, as posted. If so, the updated salary range will be communicated to you as a candidate.
