What You Will Contribute To Altos

The Altos Institute of Medicine will capture knowledge generated about cell health and programming and develop transformative medicines. We are seeking a highly experienced biotech/pharma executive to be one of the founding senior leaders of the Altos Institute of Medicine. The successful candidate is a demonstrated strategic leader who builds high-performing teams and drives innovation to develop new medicines. Critical to this position is demonstrating highly collaborative partnerships with the Altos Science Institutes and  Investigator.

The incumbent will serve as a key partner to the CMO and other leaders of the IOM and be immersed in strategic and operational elements of the Institute of Medicine

The successful Director of IOM Operations will be a dynamic, experienced individual, with a strong science background and track record of strategic and operational work experience, in the biopharmaceutical industry. They must have the proven ability to effectively manage complex and rapidly evolving projects and teams, , effectively network across the organization and communicate with senior leaders within a very dynamic, fast-paced environment.

As a member of the Institute of Medicine Leadership Team, you will play a key role in developing, shaping and implementing the overall technical strategy of Altos.

  • Uncover areas within the business to drive performance and efficiency improvements to unlock productivity and accelerate execution and support management of these initiatives
  • Analyze existing data and industry best practices to ensure programs, processes, and initiatives are meaningful and aligned with the overall IOM strategy
  • Develop and maintain detailed budgets and work plans on key initiatives
  • Collaborate across multiple internal functions including prioritization of internal and external events based on impact and strategic goals
  • Manage budgets (operating expenses and capital) and hiring plans for IOM
Who You Are 

Qualifications

  • MD, PhD or MD/PhD preferred
  • 15+ years of growing responsibility with broad exposure to multiple functions in a biotechnology or academic institution setting
  • Willingness to travel as needed (up to 30%)
  • Proven capability to lead, motivate and inspire in a diverse, global, cross-functional structure and commit to diversity, equity and belonging. 
  • A critical thinker with the ability to analyze possibilities and solutions and make pragmatic trade-offs, as well as a big picture innovator who can identify possibilities and is comfortable with ambiguity
  • Clear and influential communicator: exceptional influencing skills that demonstrate strong thought partnership and create effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Highly resourceful and strategic thinker with strong emotional intelligence, operational rigor and project management capabilities
  • Experience working in a global organization preferred
  • Depth of understanding of the function’s financials; in partnership with finance 


The salary for the Senior Director level is: $309,400 - $364,000.
The salary for the Executive Director level is: $346,800 - $408,000.
