What You Will Contribute To Altos

The Altos Institute of Medicine will capture knowledge generated about cell health and programming and develop transformative medicines. We are seeking a highly experienced biotech/pharma executive to be one of the founding senior leaders of the Altos Institute of Medicine. 

The successful Sr. Director / Executive Director of Drug Discovery/Development Operations in the Institute of Medicine will be a dynamic, experienced individual, with a strong science background and track record of strategic and operational work experience. This individual will build a strong network across the organization and communicate with senior leaders within a very dynamic, fast-paced environment.

As a member of the Institute of Medicine Leadership Team, you will play a key role in developing, shaping, and implementing the overall IOM Drug Discovery/Development Operations strategy at Altos. The incumbent will serve as a key partner to the CMO and other leaders of the IOM and be immersed in strategic and operational elements of the Institute of Medicine.

  • Help establish the IOM leadership team and culture.
  • Manage financials, budget (operating expenses and capital), and workforce plans for IOM.
  • Collaborate across multiple internal functions including prioritization of internal and external activities based on impact and strategic goals.
  • Help establish IOM using industry best practices to ensure excellence in the execution of programs, processes and initiatives.
  • Translate scientific and resource business strategies to drive strategic outcomes within the Institute of Medicine.  
  • Participates in IOM lab planning strategies and implements solutions.
  • Develop and implement strategic communication plans for the Institute of Medicine.
  • Serves as a primary contact and subject matter expert across teams within the Institute of Medicine operations.
  • Advances key knowledge management solutions across the functions within the Institute of Medicine.
Who You Are 

Qualifications

  • MD, Ph.D. or MD/Ph.D. preferred.
  • Extensive experience in drug discovery and development.
  • Experience in Drug Discovery and Development Operations.
  • 15+ years of growing responsibility with broad exposure to multiple functions in a biotechnology or academic institution setting.
  • Proven capability to lead, motivate and inspire in a diverse, global, cross-functional structure and commit to diversity, equity and belonging. 
  • A critical thinker with the ability to analyze possibilities and solutions and make pragmatic trade-offs, as well as a big-picture innovator who can identify possibilities and is comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Highly resourceful and strategic thinker with strong emotional intelligence, operational rigor, and project management capabilities.
  • Clear and influential communicator: exceptional influencing skills that demonstrate strong thought partnership and create effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a global organization.
  • Depth of understanding of financials to include budgeting, forecasting, and workforce.


The salary for the Senior Director level is: $309,400 - $364,000.
The salary for the Executive Director level is: $346,800 - $408,000.
