Senior Director, Global Adversarial Abuse and Analytics, YouTube
Job Description
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 15 years of experience in risk management, fraud fighting at scale, and building/delivering analytic insights.
- 10 years of experience working with engineering teams that build data infrastructure and ML models.
- 10 years of experience leading teams with the ability to work non-standard work weeks as escalations require.
Preferred qualifications:
- Advanced degree in a related field (e.g., analytics, engineering, data science).
- 5 years of experience in analysis of large datasets and anomaly detection.
- Experience or demonstrated interest in anti-abuse operations.
- Knowledge of SQL/R/Matlab.
- Outstanding influencing and executive communication skills and the ability to build relationships with cross-functional partners.
- Excellent business judgment, strategic and analytical skills, including using data to drive strategy and business action with an ability to work in a rapidly-changing industry and manage ambiguity while minimizing uncertainty through quantitative insights.

Whether understanding and solving their online content concerns, preventing adversarial actors from inflicting harm on users, writing, and enforcing worldwide policy, the Trust and Safety team is enhancing the YouTube experience and building internet safety.
The Trust and Safety, Adversarial Abuse and Analytics team combats bad actors and generates insights for all of YouTube Trust and Safety. In performing this function, Trust and Safety Adversarial Abuse and Analytics partners with Product Management and Engineering to improve detection and tooling, Global Vendor Operations to manage scaled enforcement, and Policy Development to develop policies and update rater guidelines.
As the Senior Director, Global Adversarial Abuse and Analytics, YouTube, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of adversarial abuse including account takeovers, terminated users, engagement abuse, spam, and more. The Adversarial Abuse team is responsible for early detection of emerging trends and operational enforcement. It also provides input to Product Management and Engineering in order to build data infrastructure and tools to keep pace with rapidly evolving abuse patterns. The Business Analytics team is responsible for measuring abuse, interpreting data, generating insights, and regular reporting through dashboards for all of YouTube Trust and Safety. It also generates transparency and compliance reports for countries worldwide. This role will require occasional on-call work on weekends and holidays on a rotational basis.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $277,000-$410,000 bonus equity benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Lead the Adversarial Abuse team responsible for detecting and removing bad actors attempting account takeovers, spam, engagement abuse, circumventing termination, etc. and the Business Analytics team responsible for generating insights, measuring uncaught badnesses, and publishing Transparency Reports for countries worldwide.
- Understand, anticipate, and thoughtfully mitigate risks from new, scaling industry trends (e.g. generative AI).
- Partner with the Policy Development team to craft policies leveraging account, behavioral and content signals to delineate abusive behavior.
- Deliver effective and efficient operational performance (e.g., quality, service levels) on a global team working 24x7. Attract, retain, manage, and develop excellent talent.
- Manage escalations with fast turnaround times, provide data and content driven insights, and implement solutions while developing relationships with key cross-functional partners to help launch new products and policies that effectively prevent adversarial abuse.
