What you’ll be doing 

In collaboration with the VP – Cloud Engineering & Operations, and related engineering leads you will build and implement a strategy to establish a global SRE that will own operations of products from across multiple segments of Experian’s business and drive SRE practices and operational outcomes for those products. Your task will be to work with existing engineering teams, product owners, CTOs and internal support teams to determine a consistent and secure standard to manage those products. You will build teams of engineers that focus on specific product outcomes as well as cross-domain engineers that can improve global outcomes. You will define an objective standard, transition products to that standard, then own and maintain those practices going forward.


Your organization will be accountable for delivering these products and services to a defined SLA (Service Level Agreement), maintaining software and platform version lifecycle, and driving security and compliance against global standards.


You will be a key contributor to defining the working relationship between SRE and business units and segments that deliver products. You will partner with peer organizations such as cloud operations, private cloud delivery, developer platform, and data strategy to deliver a cohesive view of cloud engineering and operations to our business and regional partners. 



Summary of Primary Responsibilities 

  • Establish and socialize organizational strategy and roadmap in collaboration with VP – Cloud Engineering & Ops 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with business unit and regional CTOs and leaders 

  • Build a program of work to transition existing products and teams to an operational standard 

  • Establish a global team of engineers to execute the program and take ownership of operational practices 

  • Build a consultative practice to engage with software engineering teams to drive strong operational outcomes 

  • Present service availability reports to business leaders, executives, and clients.

  • Provide executive summaries and root cause analysis during and after significant incidents 

  • Establish team(s) of SREs (Site Reliability Engineer) to support software engineering and operational teams to drive resilient, secure and low-risk outcomes 

  • Hold teams accountable to service level expectations and provide transparency to operational best practices through metrics, dashboards and reports 

  • Analyze and identify areas of inefficiency and drive automation and process improvement to improve service quality 

  • Maintain a practice of continual improvement 

Qualifications

What your background looks like 

  • 5 – 7 years as team lead or other leadership in a technical capacity 

  • 8 – 10 years working in technical operations roles 

  • Expert level knowledge in SRE practices with experience leading teams at enterprise scale 

  • Technical experience with infrastructure, cloud, and software delivery 

  • Passion for rationalizing and standardizing operational work 

  • Experience Recruiting and building new teams 

  • Process improvement focused 

  • Demonstrated Experience with large scale incident resolution 

  • Technical depth to extract key documentation from existing teams 

  • Data and Results driven and capable of using to provide transparency to business outcomes 

  • Ability to negotiate service windows and RACI with product owners 

  • Ability to lead multiple teams in “follow-the-sun” models

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay range for this position is listed above. Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors such as job-related skills, experience and education. This position is also eligible for a variable pay opportunity and a comprehensive benefits package which includes health, life and disability insurance, generous paid time off including paid parental and family care leave, an employee stock purchase plan and a 401(k) plan with a company match.
