Role Purpose

The Senior Director, Granular Procurement Solutions (GPS) would function as the Business Line Leader (BLL) for LevelTen’s emerging suite of solutions supporting the procurement of carbon-free energy (CFE) at an hourly level of granularity (i.e., ‘Granular Procurement Solutions’). Rather than focus on renewable energy procurement goals based on an organization's total annual energy use, corporations, governments, and utilities are increasingly using time- and location-stamped renewable energy credits (“granular certificates,” or GCs) to achieve hourly CFE commitments and/or focus their purchasing activity on grid regions with high carbon intensity. LevelTen is now developing and delivering an expanding suite of solutions to meet the needs of this important market, including LevelTen’s Procurement Roadmap report and the launch of a new solution – developed with a consortium of the world’s leading energy buyers, sellers, and traders – to launch a transaction platform for buying, selling, and tracking GCs.


Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, the Sr. Director of GPS is responsible for coordinating a wide range of business activities supporting the launch of the new solution and achieving ongoing business line sales targets. Although initially an individual contributor, this is a key company leadership role that will require a proven ability to coordinate with and matrix-manage the output of colleagues across a range of other departments including Sales, Marketing, Product, Engineering and senior management. The ideal candidate is a hands-on business leader, able to publicly evangelize a new solution, and effectively influence and bring together an array of partners and stakeholders, both internal and external, while also digging in and personally delivering hands-on progress every day.


We’re looking for a business leader with compelling experience both project managing complex new software solutions from ideation to launch, and substantial, demonstrated experience working in the renewable energy industry, ideally working with energy trading platforms, and deep familiarity with energy procurement structures and energy market dynamics. Experience with commercial or go-to-market leadership is a strong plus, including, pricing, channel sales, segmentation and more.


Duties and Responsibilities
  • Leading collaboration across Product, Marketing, and Sales teams to develop and execute the go-to-market strategy for LevelTen’s GPS business line, including participating in early-stage customer engagement efforts
  • Working closely with Consortium partners to secure buy-in and alignment on product definition and scope, and owning the sequential roll-out from MVP pilot to full-scale Exchange.
  • Leveraging energy trading expertise to guide complex decision-making regarding the design and launch of an exchange platform new to the industry
  • Evangelizing with key market stakeholders to maximize adoption of the solution across the industry 
  • Identifying, recommending, and building the company’s long term GPS strategy roadmap
  • Analyzing and defining target customer segments and generating data-driven value propositions with the greatest revenue opportunities
  • Working with the Chief Commercial Officer and Finance team to determine solution pricing and overall commercial policy
  • Representing LevelTen in meetings with key industry stakeholders and collaboration partners
  • Monitoring the competitive landscape, industry trends, and customer needs to evolve the commercial strategy for data solutions
  • Establishing, tracking and reporting on business line performance against KPIs and metrics, and championing solutions to address shortfalls
  • Owning all LevelTen GPS solutions from ideation through customer revenue, including GC Procurement Roadmap Reports and the GC Exchange.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience as a general manager leading a business unit or product line with demonstrated success at  achieving business line revenue targets
  • Substantial, demonstrated experience working in the renewable energy industry, ideally working with energy trading platforms, and deep familiarity with energy procurement structures, and energy market dynamics
  • Experience successfully project-managing complex new software solutions from ideation to launch
  • Experience with commercial or go-to-market leadership, including, pricing, direct and/or channel sales, and customer segmentation
  • Proven ability to both successfully lead and grow direct reports and and effectively matrix-manage the output of stakeholders not within your reporting line
  • MBA or equivalent advanced business degree preferred
Additional Details
  • The estimated compensation for this position is $170,000-190,000 base per year plus 25% variable compensation, based on experience and qualifications. In addition, this position is eligible for an equity grant.
