Senior Director, In Vitro Pharmacology

An exciting opportunity is available for a talented Senior Director to join the Institute of Medicine (IOM) Development Sciences team at Altos Labs.
We are seeking very highly motivated, creative, and collaborative individuals who are passionate and dedicated to employing their expertise to restore cell health and resilience and reverse disease. This position will be part of a multidisciplinary team within the IOM to develop novel therapeutic projects and pipelines at Altos. The candidate will work in a highly dynamic and cross-functional environment that requires collaboration with the Institutes of Science and may span multiple therapeutic areas and therapeutic modalities. The successful candidate will have strong scientific training and a demonstrated track record of leading In Vitro Pharmacology groups in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.

Responsibilities

• Lead the exploration and implementation of various innovative biophysical, biochemical and/or cellular assay platforms compatible with in vitro pharmacology characterization and the corresponding data analysis workflows
• Develop assays amenable to high throughput screening (HTS) and/or lead optimization characterization as well as quantitative pharmacodynamics biomarker assays to support in vitro and in vivo studies
• Continuously assess assay development needs based on the evolving pipeline at Altos
• Lead assay qualification to support bioanalytical workflows as needed
• Recruit scientists and build a team to support in vitro pharmacology strategy to ensure delivery of high quality data packages in support of target validation through to regulatory filings
• Manage resource allocation, including leveraging CRO partners and internal resources in other Altos Labs groups as needed
• Create and foster strong partnerships with groups at the Institutes of Science
• Contribute to exploration of molecular mechanism of action as needed
• Contributes to a team culture that promotes continuous improvement, ownership, professional growth, and inclusion

Qualifications

• PhD. in Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or related scientific discipline with at least 15+ years of industry experience in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical setting
• Demonstrated ability to lead groups responsible for defining, developing and overseeing execution of biophysical, biochemical and cellular assays
• Demonstrated ability to support high throughput screening (HTS) and/or standard lead optimization characterization as needed
• Demonstrated ability to work across diverse therapeutic modalities, including small molecules, biotherapeutics, nucleic acid therapeutics, gene therapy
• A critical thinker with the ability to analyze possibilities and solutions and make pragmatic trade-offs
• Clear and influential communicator: exceptional influencing skills that demonstrate strong thought partnership and create effective relationships with internal and external groups and individuals
• Excellent collaboration skills and ability to build and connect strong teams and
• Project team leadership experience in the discovery space is highly desirable
• Familiarity with diverse therapeutic areas, application of Structure-Based Drug Design and the concepts of PK/PD will be a significant benefit
• Experience with qualification and validation of bioanalytical methods is highly desirable, as well as experience working in the whole spectrum of drug discovery development (from target validation to clinical testing)

The salary for the Senior Director level is: $362,150 - $491,050.
