Loan Administration at Valon

The Loan Administration team powers all of the operations required to keep Valon running smoothly. From onboarding loans to handling insurance and processing payments, the Loan Administration team ensures that homeowners are continuing to get a first-class experience with Valon, all from behind the scenes.

About the role

The Senior Director of Loan Administration is responsible for leading and managing various functions within servicing at Valon Mortgage. These areas include Insurance, Property Tax, Escrow, Mortgage Insurance, Hazard Claims, Payment Processing, Payoffs, Collateral Management, MERS, SII, Assumptions, Deceased, SCRA, ARM, Co-ops, and Year End Forms.  The Senior Director will be required to serve as an officer of Valon Mortgage and/or as a Qualified Individual for purposes of state and federal licensing. Thus, any successful candidate must be able to undergo routine background and credit checks, and to undertake all actions necessary to obtain and maintain our licenses.

As the Senior Director of Loan Administration, you are fully responsible for the management and oversight of the servicing functions with your line of business, including key initiatives around operational efficiencies, risk mitigation, and business profitability. You will interface and work closely with Legal, Risk, and Compliance as well as the rest of Servicing Operations, Product Operations, and Technology Research and Development.

We are looking for a growth-minded and collaborative leader who is passionate about building world-class servicing operations from the ground up and transforming the mortgage servicing industry with technology.  The right candidate can roll up their sleeves and operate at all levels of the operations as needed by the business. This role requires a strong operator who can understand the bigger picture, forge their own path without clear guidance, tackle complex problems, own processes end to end, work cross functionally, and build strong and cohesive teams.

Responsibilities
  • Work with senior leadership to define and set performance goals at the departmental, team, and individual levels
  • Provide strategic recommendations to achieve the company’s vision
  • Responsible for the business unit’s success in operational execution and driving strategic cross-functional decisions
  • Facilitates each team’s planning and roadmap across the business unit
  • Proactively identifies risks and places controls in place to mitigate risk and errors across all processes within their function
  • Drive operational process improvements and any remediation needed from internally and externally identified areas of opportunity
  • Orchestrate work streams
  • Monitors team and individual performance and ensures that responsible performance management and coachings are effectuated
  • Improve operational efficiency at the ground level, manage costs, and run lean operations
  • Review and approve business process changes
  • Work with stakeholders in Product Operations and Technology Research and Development to provide context into operations and handle change management for new processes and product rollouts
  • Responsible for ensuring contractual client service standards are achieved or exceeded on a monthly basis
  • Responsible for compliance and adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, investor guidelines, and Valon company policies within various areas of mortgage servicing across Loan Administration 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required 
  • 5-10 years of mortgage servicing experience, especially as it relates to performing servicing and special products
  • Knowledge of regulatory agencies and guidelines
  • Strong and precise communication and writing skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving mindset
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi task to manage multiple large-scale complex projects enterprise-wide
  • Ability to build and lead strong and cohesive teams
  • Ability to strategically align with teams and peers across the company
  • Ability to handle and drive complex change management so that operations continue to run smoothly
  • Ability to optimize for Valon as a whole and have a cross-functional impact across the company
Ideal Background 
  • Prior experience working closely and building trusted partnerships with internal product and engineering teams
  • Prior experience scaling operations teams from 50 to 500
  • Exceptional project management skills and ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects with deadlines and high velocity
  • 10+ years of experience with Insurance, Property Tax, Escrow, Mortgage Insurance, Hazard Claims, Payment Processing, Payoffs, Collateral Management, MERS, SII, Assumptions, Deceased, SCRA, ARM, Co-ops, and Year End Forms
  • Considered within the entire company to be an expert in their process areas
  • Prior experience servicing as Qualified Individual for purposes of state and federal licensing
