Summary / Role Purpose

The Senior Director, M&A Integration will have primary responsibility for overseeing the integration of businesses acquired by Ansys and managing a team of individuals who lead M&A integration projects on behalf of Ansys Corporate Development. This role will be expected to effectively (1) plan and manage all aspects of an acquisition integration project to ensure that an acquired business becomes fully integrated into Ansys in a successful, efficient and timely manner, and (2) manage and direct other integration management leaders within their team. This role requires deep project management skills and includes guiding and overseeing activities across all functional areas. It involves driving all tasks related to the integration to successful resolution/completion, including determining priorities and responsibilities, setting milestones, clearing roadblocks and reporting progress to senior management. The Senior Director, M&A Integration will report to the VP, Corporate Development M&A Leader.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of high-performing project managers on the Corporate Development M&A integration team to consistently deliver on key integration and business priorities
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, guidance to the Corporate Development M&A integration team members and conduct hiring, performance management and reviews, compensation recommendations, resource allocation and workload management for the team
  • Participate in the due diligence process to identify integration priorities and participate in preliminary integration planning
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and other key stakeholders to define and accomplish acquisition integration priorities and goals
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional integration team that includes representatives from a wide set of functions across Ansys including Product, Sales, Marketing, Human Resources, Legal, Finance and IT to create a comprehensive integration project plan
  • Act as the primary liaison and point-of-contact to business leaders and other key personnel of the acquired businesses throughout the integration period and, as needed, assist them in resolving key issues and questions that arise
  • Manage the cross-functional teams from both Ansys and the acquired company who are responsible for executing integration activities throughout the integration period
  • Establish metrics to measure the progress of an acquisition integration, achievement of business objectives and the overall success of the deal acquisition
  • Track the defined performance measurements for acquisitions/integrations, draft reports on performance results and regularly present results to senior leadership and other key stakeholders
  • Drive the continuous improvement of Ansys integration processes and best practices and continually refine Ansys' post-acquisition integration playbook and templates
  • Assist on projects as needed to support M&A transaction execution efforts on behalf of Corporate Development
Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 15 years' experience leading M&A integration projects as the overall project management lead for a software company
  • Prior experience successfully leading a team as a manager
  • Effective and collaborative communication style with the ability to customize approach for a variety of audiences ranging from senior executives to junior resources
  • Strong "customer orientation" and success in creating both a superior experience for acquired personnel as well as meeting the needs of Ansys' business goal and functions
  • Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems and resolve issues in a constructive and timely manner
  • Proven track record of success in building solid working relationships within various areas/business functions of the company and with acquired company management and other personnel
  • Formal training/certification (e.g., PMP) and/or extensive experience in project management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrably excellent organizational skills and ability to manage time effectively
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a high degree of approachability and the ability to work seamlessly in a team-oriented environment
  • Willingness to travel 10-20% over the course of an annual period

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Post-graduate degree in business, communications or organizational sciences is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills with prior role that exhibits these skills
  • Proficient in the MS Office Suite
