Summary of Job:
This role is responsible for the overall Global market access strategy for new products (in-house products including KHK4083, in-licensing products, etc.). This role will have a direct working relationship with the Head of Business Strategy of Global Product Strategy Department (GPSD) and will focus on the US aspects of all market access strategies, since the US is the largest market globally, and has an impact on the global success of all new products. The role is instrumental in overseeing and leading all market access strategies/ tactics across pricing, and payer channels, focusing on launch strategies, life cycle management, and ensuring alignment with senior business leadership, Global Product Strategy Leads (GPSLs), Region President, etc. Also covering region-specific Patient Services and Channel Management to ensure the goal of patient access in the US. In addition, this role will be responsible for identifying key US policy-related items that may have a material impact on the launch of any given new product. They will work with other functional areas to ensure alignment on potential impact. This role requires working closely with all groups within the broader regional Market Access organization including not only NA but also Japan, EMEA, and Asia Pacific.
Essential Functions:
- Develop/align on the US market access strategy for new products
- Lead the development and implementation of all initiatives including the value and access, list and net pricing strategies, impact of these strategies on GTN, and overall access to key payer archetypes.
- Develop and communicate robust market access strategies and plans, including development and clear articulation of the brands’ value story, and help to integrate them into the overall brand plan.
- Manage market access launch budget and develop metrics to measure ROI against key initiatives – this role may or may not have direct budget responsibilities dependent upon specifics of licensing agreements.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of all brand planning activities through active participation with the Senior Leadership Team to determine Global strategies for products and disease areas.
- Responsibility for all pre-launch research and communication to Senior Leadership Team outputs as well as key trends in pharmaceutical industry pricing, reimbursement, and market access, and develop proactive strategies in anticipation of these trends.
- Work in collaboration with Regional Channel Operations Director to partner in developing channel-level pricing and launch strategies (e.g., SP Network / Distribution strategies).
- Recommend and implement various market access initiatives to collect and integrate payer/market insights to inform brand strategy.
- Support regional Market Access members to develop recommendations for appropriate programs, tools, and communication materials to effectively address payers' needs to render informed coverage decisions, as well as an overall approach to therapeutic class management.
- Work closely with all stakeholders to develop, align and implement the Global annual strategic and tactical business plan with regard to Market Access and Pricing.
- Provide input all product development teams by informing them of pricing and market access potential.
- Present payer issues, opportunities, and recommendations to leadership stakeholders.
- Work closely with finance, analytics, and patient services teams to identify and address product barriers to payer access and performance by applying an advanced    understanding of, and experience with strategies and payer analytics.
- Influence Phase II - III development strategy based on the needs of the NA payer expectations.
- Maintain visibility of key US policy changes in a given 1-5 year period and ensure impact scenarios are captured in strategy recommendations.
Job Requirements:
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree with 10 - 15 years of commercial pharmaceutical industry experience. 5+ years of market access assignments in the U.S. are required.
Experience
- Product launch experience in U.S. is required. Additionally, product launch experience(s) in Canada and outside North America is preferred.
- Specialty Pharma & Rare Disease product experience is preferred.
- Novel first-in-class product experience is preferred.
- Strong leadership skills and demonstrated ability to lead cross-functionally.
- Deep understanding and experience in specialty space including pricing, distribution, and payer dynamics unique to specialty products.
- Demonstrated experience in working in specialty pharmacy.
- Demonstrated experience in working with patient service HUB function.
- Deep understanding of Commercial, Medicare Part B, D and Medicaid.
- Experience identifying trends and insights assimilating into market/channel strategy.
- Understanding of key payer value drivers and ability to develop and implement payer value propositions.
- Understanding of macro-US Healthcare trends and their translation/impact on future Specialty drugs and Rare Disease business.
 Technical Skills
Proficient in MS Office Suite.
Non-Technical Skills
Requires up to 20-30% domestic and international travel
