Senior Director of Knowledge Informatics
Job Description
What you'll get to do:
- Develop and maintain or select and internalize controlled vocabularies, taxonomies and ontologies using semantic web technologies and linked data principles in multiple areas
- Hands-on work with data modeling of disparate real-world data sources
- Interface with OmniSeq, PGDx, Medical, Commercial, and IT leadership on the product development and implementation of Real-World Data solutions.
- Serve as the main point of contact with external data resources/vendors for technical matters related to data aggregation and harmonization
- Establish expertise that evolves the field of knowledge informatics in precision oncology and is recognized through presentations and/or co-authorship of publications.
- Manage, counsel, and coordinate the activities of a team of experienced specialists contributing to ontology authoring and engineering
Who you are:
- 8+ years experience in industry or health care setting, following completion of PhD degree in quantitative discipline (e.g. statistical genetics, cancer genetics, bioinformatics, computational biology, or similar).
- 5+ years of validated experience in semantic technologies, ontology management, data management within precision oncology or a core supporting field
- Demonstrated expertise with integrative modeling of clinical and/or omics dataset to derive new biological insight as well as experience developing, using, and maintaining relational and/or distributed databases
- Experience working with standard controlled clinical vocabularies, including ICD-9/10,SNOMED-CT, HCPCS, NDC, RxNorm, CPT/DRG, NAACR, OncoTree, etc.
- Deep knowledge of standard -omics nomenclature like; HUGO HGNC, GeneOntology, HGVS, dbSNP
- Broad knowledge of semantic web standards (RDF, SKOS, OWL, OBO, SPARQL) as well as linked data principles
- Strong programming experience in R or Python and SQL skills
- Ability to influence and engage key strategic and technical partners
- Proven track record of leading in a matrixed organization
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and written skills
- Ability and willingness to travel: < 20%
