Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of Scientist and BI analysts to develop custom workflows for sample preparation, NGS, and proteomic applications
• Establish scientific approach and work statements for each project to meet the client objectives and expected outcomes
• Manage the service of client facing projects to include but not limited to:
• Initial discovery studies for solutions to challenging samples or study parameters
• Custom RUO NGS workflow development
• Integration of new/bespoke processes into automation workflows and SOPs
• Execution of project specific pilot studies
• Provide flexible support for other activities in Tempus-wide R&D and clinical NGS labs including troubleshooting, emerging technology assessment, etc.
• Mentor and direct scientific laboratory staff

Qualifications:

• Previous molecular assay development and validation experience 
• Expertise in nucleic acid isolation from various biospecimen types
• Expertise in various NGS library preparation methods
• Highly organized and systematic, superb attention to detail and ability to complete tasks with a high degree of accuracy
• Experience managing a team and collaborating with cross-functional groups
• Ability to learn new skills quickly and adapt to new processes smoothly
• Ph.D. and 5+ years experience in molecular assay development required
