Senior Director of Product Design

The Role:

• Be a key partner on the product leadership team as we continue to build out the long term product vision and strategy across all product lines
• Grow, manage, develop and retain a world-class team of product designers and user researchers 
• Ensure product design has a seat at the table when making business decisions that impact the user experience
• Represent the voice of the client with the organization by fully understanding their needs and their pain points.  
• Set the team up for success in a fast paced environment ensuring they are testing and iterating while also hitting key deadlines 
• Own the user research process and ensure our product managers and designers have access to clients on a regular basis 
• Ensure the team is launching quality work that moves the business forward and enhances the overall product offering 
• Create a design culture that attracts top talent across the US

Who you are

• 10+ years of design experience, 5+ years leading design teams at a customer-centric B2C companies 
• Strong portfolio representing your past work or past work of your direct reports that exhibits a keen sense of design, color, typography and iconography: you have a high bar for excellence and know the difference between “good” and “great”.
• Strong understanding of how to place the user at the center of your strategy, process, and methodology.
• Good track record with employees you have worked with in the past. They describe you as an inspiring leader who knows their craft. 
• Ability to recruit successful designers. You understand how to inspire teams through your direction and vision.
• Ability to be a great partner to the leaders in the product and engineering organization
• Ability to create a proper structure, so that your team can run independently and successfully while also ensuring the overall experience is cohesive.

• Inspire a design thinking / user-centric culture within the team and across the organization
• Be a thought-leader on product design to partners at all levels (from direct reports to the senior executive team) with clear, articulate rationale for design decisions
• Ensure the Product and Product Design teams are spending time with clients on a regular basis (including yourself) 
• Create effective feedback structures to ensure we are designing and building the best products possible.
• Inspire and coach as the need arises
