The Role:
Forge Markets is undergoing rapid growth. We are engaging our clients across multiple channels, developing financial services technology products that span the Front, Middle, and Back offices, and drive outcomes using data. This role is for a proven leader that will own and run software delivery for our Trading Platform. You’ll be leading the transition to our next generation of our trading platform. This role will require working collaboratively and cross-functionally to successfully deliver and maintain quality functionality. And identify, and ultimately execute on, opportunities to further scale software delivery. The ideal candidate will bring significant experience managing people and complex projects and hiring and managing individuals in delivery and support roles.
Responsibilities:
- Lead highly experienced technologists, creating successful outcome-based plans to deliver solutions to the business
- Develop a high-performance team culture and capabilities by managing talent closely, developing next-generation leaders, and addressing performance concerns proactively.
- Own the design of highly scalable solutions to solve complex problems and enable users to discover and trade equities by building the best-in-class platform
- Collaborate with Stakeholders to reflect their needs for timely delivery of business value within software projects
- Collaborate with Engineering Leadership and Architecture to reflect their recommendations for executing on the Technology Strategy and Architecture.
- Design symbology/security master, interest & Trade Lifecyle, automated trade matching algorithms, and data flows between user-facing interest/order entry systems and back-office books of records systems
- Recommend the scope of current and future Middle Office platform solutions, as informed by business, customer, and technical requirements.
- Bring data-driven approach to making decisions, establish OKRs for the team
- Contribute to the overall strategy of Forge Technology
- Build processes and policies that meet or exceed guidelines and requirements for financial institutions while developing frameworks for operational effectiveness
- Improve processes and become a dedicated owner of critical products and tools from inception to implementation and post launch support across the company
- Collaborate with design and product experts to rapidly iterate and ship financial products
Qualifications:
- At least 12+ years of work experience in a hands-on Software Engineering role with 5+ years of experience in a leadership role, 5+ years of experience in Financial Trading Systems
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
- Experience Leading large engineering teams on large-scale projects with technical aspects
- Worked in an agile/lean environment
- Ability to successfully handle ambiguity, Comfortable influencing cross-functionally
- Ability to identify, attract, recruit, and hire talent, and to build high-performing teams
- Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to define and communicate strategy, vision, and influence stakeholders
- Working with programming languages including Java, Python, JavaScript; .NET, utilizing Agile development methodologies;
- In-depth knowledge of automated order matching, execution management workflows and systems, electronic trading user interfaces, FIX protocol, risk controls, trading analytics, and financial markets regulatory compliance issues.
- Prior experience with end-to-end trading workflows at Equity/Derivatives/OTC/Fixed Incomes or Crypto asset classes
- Utilizing message-oriented middleware architecture; API (Application Programming Interface) first approach
- Understand the nuances of trading and variations across broker dealer, ATS or an exchange as different regulated financial institutions

- Experience at growth stage startups.
- Experience delivering highly visible projects in Financial Services with multiple teams using Agile practices with consistent results
- Appetite for change and pushing the boundaries
- Experience with Miro, Git, confluence, Circle CI, and JIRA
- Eagerness to learn, personal curiosity and interest in the Private Equity/Venture Capital ecosystem and associated secondary market
- Kubernetes or Cloud Native development experience
