Job Description

The Senior Director, Payor Marketing and Access Strategy is responsible for developing and implementing market access strategies and tactics for all relevant customer segments for all marketed and pipeline products. This role is accountable for the market access marketing plan developed through innovative thinking and collaboration with cross functional teams such as Market Access Pricing Strategy, Channel Strategy, Brand Marketing, Medical Affairs, Finance, Legal, external customers, and agency partners. The role will report directly to the Vice President, Market Access.

  • Develop clear, compelling, and sustainable product value propositions, based on evidence and objective methodologies (including voice of the customer) and key value messages for TransCon hGH, TransCon PTH, and TransCon CNP.
  • Provides leadership in the development of reimbursement and market access collateral material to support pull-through and push-through initiatives for the account team and field sales.
  • Collaborates appropriately with Medical Affairs to ensure relevant HEOR initiatives are delivered through account teams to healthcare decision makers.
  • Ensures payer account teams have the tools and resources needed to address potential gap analysis between payer expectations and what the product(s) can deliver.
  • Market access research, strategy & tactical plan development and execution, including product pricing strategy and product positioning for commercial and government payors.
  • Develops and sustains a performance-driven and competitive mindset within the team to drive business results.
  • Executes all business plans to consistently meet or exceed Company sales goals.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of the reimbursement landscape including CMS regulations, State and Federal Policies to maximize pull- and push-through initiatives.
  • Identify needs for primary and/or secondary market research and analyze to inform market access strategy, product development, health economics models, and economic burden evidence needs.
  • Provides direction and leadership for the management of all vendors in the procurement and execution of approved projects for Market Access.
  • Works closely with the Commercial Leadership Team in meeting specific account objectives with strategies and tactics that optimize business performance for Company products.
  • Collaborates with home office and field-based Medical Affairs leadership to support effective communication and integration with Market Access clinical decision makers.
  • Collaborates with broad range of cross-functional and senior leadership colleagues to ensure inclusion of access-related consideration in corporate-level direction, including with medical and clinical leadership to leverage synergies between clinical and access-related dynamics.
  • Applies expertise related to national and state/local reimbursement trends and policies, payer coding and billing, and evolving health care delivery models. Demonstrates understanding of coding, coverage, and payment across all payer types.
  • Anticipates and adapts to changing market conditions and priorities, and leverages a sophisticated understanding of the short- and long-term ROI to be gained through the application of Market Access resources available.
  • Operates within defined budgets and timelines.
  • Develops key external relationships with payers, SPPs, KOLs and business partners.
  • Demonstrates high level of professional expertise within the functional discipline.
  • Turns strategy into action; proactively develops own functional area to be prepared for the future to ensure long-term success, including brand life-cycle management.
  • Advises Executive Management on key access policies and reimbursement practices affecting corporate objectives, quantify risks and opportunities and make recommendations for action.
  • Ensures that all Market Access activities comply with regulatory agencies, public policies/guidelines, and with corporate policies and procedures.
  • Facilitates Market Access considerations and messaging inclusion within marketing brand and strategic/operation plans, including tracking performance against agreed KPI metrics for access and developing/tracking related Market Access performance and budgets.
  • Role model of the company vision, mission and values (patients, science, passion) .

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in pharmaceutical market access.
  • Successful track record developing pre-commercial market access launch planning in the rare disease space.
  • Successful working in both pharma as well as small biotech environments.
  • Entrepreneurial leader who builds strong teams of people with diverse experiences, perspectives and talents and creates an environment in which the team is highly motivated and engaged to work together to deliver exceptional results consistent with company vision, mission and values.
  • Possesses broad base and in-depth understanding of reimbursement issues, payer segments, use of specialty pharmacies, the J-Code application process, managed market customers including private and public payers, national and regional health plans, state Medicaid, Medicare Part B and D, VA/DOD, PBMs, Employers, IDNs, Medical Groups and ACOs.
  • Extensive relationships and contracting experience with payers, health systems and organized customers at the national and regional level.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop an insightful, differentiated and compelling market access brand value proposition, which uniquely resonates with the payer and organized customer resulting in above expected market penetration rates.
  • Exceptional planning & organizational skills and attention to detail including budget management.
  • Possesses strong and broad industry relationships and professional network of influential market access leaders, consultants, agencies and vendors to be in-sync with industry best practices and competitive strategies as well as on the cutting edge of future innovative changes to the payer and industry landscape qualifications.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally.
  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA or graduate level degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years Managed Markets/Market Access experience in leadership role.
  • Strong ability to understand market trends, financial data, and customer needs with strong acumen assessing competitive intelligence data.
  • Prior experience with pre-launch Managed Markets strategies and planning preferred.
    • New hires based in the US will be required to demonstrate that they have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or qualify for a medical or religious exemption or accommodation to this vaccination requirement, subject to applicable law.
    • Salary range: $255-285K/year
