Senior Director, PMO Lead
Job Description
Position Summary:
Oversees operational excellence for the department developing strategies to ensure high quality deliverables and successful management of the project and financial portfolio. Maintains strategic relationships and serves as a senior leadership contact for clients and team. Provides input across all services and functional areas and helps to drive strategy focusing on innovation, operational efficiency and expansion of the department's global footprint.
Serves as a point of escalation and ensures pathways are adhered to internally and externally. Â May serve in a Project Lead role, Oversight Director role or People Manager role within the Project Delivery Organization.
As a People Manager, directs a team of Project Delivery direct reports of differing levels of experience and project roles within a Therapeutic Unit. Oversees the career development and performance management of their team, providing coaching in both soft skills and technical skills as related to the use of organization systems, tools and processes. Identifies training gaps and implements strategic solutions, while driving employee motivation and trust. Provides leadership to the department and fosters the ability to collaborate and balance business need with career development opportunities.
Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:
- Ensure the successful implementation of the PMO’s strategy, responsibilities, services, and deliverables
- Plan project management, including setting deadlines, prioritizing tasks, and assigning team members to various deliverables
- Analyze financial data, including project budgets, risks, and resource allocation
- Craft financial reports and budget outlines
- Oversee the development of the project and ensure that team members are carrying out their tasks efficiently while upholding the company's standards
- Draft new and improving existing project management office policies and processes
- Continuously evaluate projects to ensure they are meeting company standards, adhering to budgets, and meeting deadlines
- Accurately document PMO project creation, development, and execution as well as project scope, budget, and justification
- Acts as a Champion for organizational changes, offerings, developments and lead workstreams.
- Expertly navigate the need to dive in/dive out of situations while ensuring the Project Lead remains empowered
- Provokes critical thinking and drives innovation in Project Lead related to execution of delivery, financial negotiations and prioritization
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all assigned projects and provides recommendations and guidance to escalated complex, difficult issues from clients, resources, and other stakeholders
- Oversee the planning, development, and execution of project deliverables at a portfolio level and with potential new opportunities
- Lead client facing interactions and coordination with technical team
- Provide direct oversight, management, and follow up on assigned projects or projects from direct reports at a portfolio level
- Communicate with and manage relationships with internal and external customers, team members, and other stakeholders
- Author study documentation, create reports, and present information in a timely manner
- Enforce GMP/GLP/ISO/CLIA/Global regulations and standards within all aspects of the department and overall project execution
- Require an environment that is compliant with all quality and corporate policies and procedures
- Lead and manage staff in keeping with expressed objectives and corporate culture, and in doing so provide a workplace where ideas are sought and considered, initiative is encouraged, success is rewarded, and employees are treated fairly, with respect and recognition
- Remain current on IATA Shipping Regulations and maintain certification and standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Minimum Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred
- Previous experience (comparable to 15+ years) that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job
- 7+ years of management responsibility
- Advanced leadership skills
In some cases, an equivalency consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.
Other Required:
- Must have strategically focused operational and management experience in a Biotechnology, Repository, pharmaceutical or similar industry
- Able to independently manage multiple projects and lead projects to support corporate goals
- All aspects of highly developed interpersonal, communication and management skills are required
- Proven experience managing and/or overseeing management of multiple projects simultaneously is a requirement
- Demonstrated experience working in a matrix environment to achieve results from diverse working teams
- Substantial knowledge and understanding of specimen collection, processing and handling factors that affect specimen integrity required
- Confidentiality, excellent use of judgment and discretion required relative to sensitive and restricted Company and employee information
- Must possess strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Able to travel both domestically and internationally including overnight stays
Must be able to read, write, speak fluently and comprehend the English language
