This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Director, Program & Portfolio Governance in the United States.

This senior leadership role is responsible for driving enterprise-wide program execution excellence and portfolio governance across a complex global technology environment. You will ensure that strategic initiatives are effectively translated into structured execution frameworks, with clear alignment between business priorities, technology investments, and measurable outcomes. Acting as a key advisor to senior leadership, you will shape governance models, portfolio prioritization, and value realization strategies across multiple domains and regions. The role requires strong collaboration with cross-functional leaders to ensure consistency in delivery practices, risk management, and operational transparency. You will also establish and scale governance standards, enabling teams to execute efficiently while maintaining alignment with enterprise objectives. Operating in a highly matrixed and regulated environment, this position combines strategic oversight, operational discipline, and leadership of governance capabilities that drive global impact.

Accountabilities

  • Lead enterprise program and project delivery governance through standardized frameworks, gated reviews, and structured execution models.
  • Ensure alignment of technology investments with strategic priorities, business outcomes, and measurable value delivery.
  • Establish and maintain portfolio governance structures, including prioritization frameworks, escalation paths, and decision-making models.
  • Oversee resource allocation, risk management, and performance tracking across major initiatives in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Implement operating mechanisms such as OKR cadences, executive reviews, dashboards, and performance reporting systems.
  • Embed governance practices into Agile and SDLC frameworks to ensure transparency and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Drive simplification and standardization of governance, review, and approval processes across global teams and regions.
  • Build and lead a center of excellence for program and portfolio governance, fostering adoption of best practices across the enterprise.
  • Manage and mentor a team of program and portfolio management professionals as well as external consulting partners.
  • Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
    • 12+ years of experience in enterprise program/portfolio management, process excellence, or digital technology leadership roles.
    • Proven experience operating in large-scale, global, matrixed organizations, ideally within regulated industries (pharma, healthcare, finance, or similar).
    • Strong expertise in translating strategic objectives into execution roadmaps and governance structures.
    • Deep understanding of portfolio management, program governance, Agile delivery, and SDLC frameworks.
    • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment across complex organizations.
    • Strong leadership experience managing teams and external partners in a high-impact environment.
    • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
    • Strong analytical and business acumen with the ability to evaluate trade-offs and drive value realization.
    • Preferred certifications such as PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or Prosci.
    • Experience establishing centers of excellence and driving enterprise-wide process adoption is a plus.
    • Benefits

      • Competitive annual salary range: $190,900 – $260,900.
